Which Keypad Works w/ a 2GIG Edge?
The keypads that work with a 2GIG Edge are the 2GIG Edge Remote Keypad (Equipment Code 1075) and the 2GIG PAD1-345 Push-Button Keypad (Equipment Code 0867). You can pair up to eight (8) keypads on a single 2GIG Edge System, and they can be a mix-and-match of those two (2) keypad types.
An added keypad will give you the ability to control your 2GIG Edge Security System from an additional on-site location. Many users with multiple Entry/Exit Zones will install a keypad by each location. For instance, you might have your main panel by your front door, plus a keypad by your back door, and another one by your garage door. Many users also like to have a keypad in their master bedroom, so that way they can easily control their alarm system near their bedside. Both the 2GIG Edge Remote Keypad and the 2GIG PAD1-345 Keypad provide this benefit. If you are trying to decide between these two keypads, then understand that the 2GIG Edge Remote Keypad is the more expensive option, but it will provide more features and capabilities. The 2GIG PAD1-345 is more affordable, but it can only provide a very limited range of functionality.
The 2GIG Edge Remote Keypad is the premier keypad option for the 2GIG Edge. It was designed exclusively for use with the 2GIG Edge Security System. This is a touchscreen keypad that will mimic the user interface (UI) and layout of the 2GIG Edge. Pretty much everything that you can do from the 2GIG Edge, you can also do from the Remote Keypad. This includes arming/disarming, checking current system status, bypassing zones, performing smart home commands, triggering emergency panics, and live-streaming security camera video feeds. Another advantage to the 2GIG Edge Remote Keypad is that it has a far greater wireless range since it pairs across a WIFI network.
If you don't need a fancy touchscreen keypad with a wide range of functions, then you can instead get the more bare-bones 2GIG PAD1-345. The PAD1-345 doesn't have a display screen, as it's really nothing more than a push-button keypad. You can use it for arming and disarming, and it also has one-touch police and fire panic buttons that can be used in the event of an emergency. Beyond that though, the PAD1-345 does not offer very much. It cannot be used to bypass zones, it cannot be used for smart home commands, and it can only control the Smart Area Partition that it is assigned to. But if you only need a super basic keypad for the absolute minimum of functionality, then the PAD1-345 can be an affordable and practical solution.
