Will Total Connect 2.0 Show an Alarm if a Prior Alarm Isn't Cleared?
No, Total Connect 2.0 will not show an alarm if a prior alarm isn't cleared, at least not if the alarm is caused by the same zone. You need to disarm the system and trigger a change in Panel Status Display (PSD). Otherwise, Total Connect 2.0 will not display alarms for that same zone.
Total Connect 2.0 is an interactive monitoring platform for Honeywell Systems. Many users rely on TC2 to receive alerts regarding any system alarms that may occur. Normally, these notifications are sent out without any issue. But if you never disarm your system following a previous alarm, then TC2 will not be able to notify you if a second alarm occurs on that same zone. The Resideo AlarmNet Servers will still forward the alarm to a central station if you have central station monitoring service. It's just that the alarm notification will never appear on Total Connect 2.0. This can be very troubling for self-monitored users who rely solely on TC2.
The issue of Total Connect 2.0 not displaying an alarm that occurs is common for users with multiple locations who may not frequently use one or more of their systems. If a user is not on-site, then they may think that it's okay to not clear an alarm after one occurs. But the problem in not clearing an alarm is that Total Connect 2.0 will not be able to display any future alarms that may occur on the same zone. For that reason, you will want to make sure you always clear an alarm after one occurs, even if you are not on-site. This way, you can be sure that Total Connect 2.0 will properly display any alarms that occur on the system.
The secret to making sure that TC2 will display all system alarms is to update the Panel Status Display (PSD) information for TC2. The easiest way to do this is to clear the alarm. This is basically the same as performing a double disarm. Fortunately, you do not need to be on-site to clear an alarm. You can clear an alarm remotely, which is very useful for users who may not be on-site to clear the alarm from the panel. If you need to clear an alarm remotely from TC2, you should use the Alarm Cancel function. Alternatively, you can also pull up the keypad on TC2 and enter [Master Code] + [1] twice to effectively disarm and clear the alarm.
