Will Interlogix/GE Sensors Work on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
Yes, Interlogix/GE Sensors will work on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5. These sensors operate at a wireless frequency of 319.5 MHz. Because the Interlogix Simon XTi and XTi-5 Systems accept wireless signals at this frequency, these wireless sensors can be used with these alarm systems.
The Simon XTi and XTi-5 are both wireless self-contained alarm systems. Like most systems of this type, they both include their own integrated wireless receiver for communicating with wireless sensors. The type of wireless sensors that an alarm system can communicate with is determined by the signal frequency accepted by the wireless receiver. For the Simon XTi and XTi-5, the built-in wireless receiver is designed to recognize the 319.5 MHz signal.
Interlogix designed their own in-house sensors to operate at the 319.5 MHz frequency. This way, they can all be used with the Simon XTi and XTi-5. For a period of time, Interlogix Sensors were sold under the GE banner. This means that GE and Interlogix both refer to the same lineup of wireless sensors. So therefore, any GE Sensor should also work with one of these systems in the same way that Interlogix Sensors do.
Qolsys Sensors will also work with the Interlogix Simon XTi and XTi-5. These sensors also operate at the 319.5 MHz frequency, which makes them compatible. However, the encrypted "S-Line" sensors will not have encryption enabled when they are used with the Interlogix systems. We encourage users to check out the Qolsys IQ Panel Sensor Compatibility List for more information on compatible sensors.
But many sensors are not compatible with these systems. For instance, the Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors and the 2GIG Sensors both operate at the 345 MHz frequency. This makes these sensors incompatible with the Simon XTi and XTi-5. However, there are certain third-party devices that are capable of converting a wireless signal from one frequency to another.
