Will Linear's Z-Wave Products Work with Honeywell LYNX Touch Systems?
Yes, Linear's Z-Wave products will work with Honeywell LYNX Touch Systems. A Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE module must be added to the LYNX Touch System for this to work. The Z-Wave devices can be controlled from the panel or through Total Connect 2.0.You must pair a Z-Wave device before using it.
A Honeywell LYNX Touch System cannot support Z-Wave devices right out of the box. You must add an L5100 Z-WAVE module to the system first. The L5100 Z-WAVE is a Z-Wave controller that makes the system capable of supporting these devices. It works with the L5100, L5200, L5210 and L7000 Alarm Systems.
The Linear Z-Wave devices are all fairly standard, and they will work with a Honeywell LYNX Touch System after an L5100-ZWAVE card has been installed. This includes any of their light switches, dimmers and garage door openers. Keep in mind that they will need to be in range of the panel when used. You can increase the range by expanding the Z-Wave mesh network and having their signals hop through other Z-Wave devices.
When adding a new Z-Wave device to an LYNX Touch System, you should clear it from the network first. Even if the device is brand-new, it may have been paired with a different network for factory testing purposes. Clearing the device first will remove any of its existing settings and ensure that it can be paired successfully. You can then pair the device after a successful exclusion.
Any Z-Wave device or automated smart scene can be controlled directly from the panel. However, if you want to control your Z-Wave devices remotely, then you should use Total Connect 2.0. This is an interactive platform that you can use with your LYNX Touch Panel. You just need to make sure that your system has an IP or cellular connection. You will also need an alarm monitoring plan that includes TC2 access.
