Will a cat set off a Honeywell 5800PIR motion detector?
The Honeywell 5800PIR wireless motion detector can be programmed for pet immunity up to an 80lb animal. In order for the sensor to be in pet immune mode, you must program it into your Honeywell wireless security system with loop 1. The Honeywell 5800PIR-RES wireless motion detector also has built-in pet immunity when learned as loop 1.
In order for the pet friendly motion sensor feature to work properly, you must mount the 5800PIR on the wall or in a corner without a bracket, and at the recommended 7.5’ to 8’ high. Do not install the optional look down mirror if you want the pet immunity feature to work properly. Additionally, install the sensor in a location where animals cannot come within 6’ of the lens by climbing on furniture or other objects. Cats are known to climb on anything, so be sure to aim the sensor away from stairways, furniture, and any other climbable objects. If you carefully follow all of the above steps, your cat will not set off your Honeywell 5800PIR wireless motion detector.
