2GIG panic1e-345
Encrypted Single-Button Panic Remote
Description
The 2GIG PANIC1e-345 is an encrypted wireless single-button panic alarm. It uses 2GIG's 345 MHz RF frequency, but adds encryption to help prevent wireless signal tampering. It is compatible with any 2GIG panel that supports the use of encrypted wireless devices, such as the 2GIG GC2e, 2GIG GC3e (now discontinued), and 2GIG Edge which comes in an AT&T version and a Verizon version. The 2GIG Edge differs from previous 2GIG alarm panels in that the cellular module comes built-in.
The 2GIG PANIC1e-345 comes with several different options for keeping the panic button close-at-hand. It offers a lanyard, a wristband, a wall-mount, a belt clip, or a car visor clip. To prevent false activations, the 2GIG PANIC1e-345 requires that the panic button be pressed for at least two (2) seconds before activation occurs. The user can tell the panic button has been activated because the red LED will illuminate when it transmits a signal. The PANIC1e-345 comes with a Panasonic CR2032 or equivalent Lithium battery. Install the battery by inserting a flathead screwdriver into the opening at the end of the PANIC1e-345 and prying the cover off. Be sure to install the battery with the Plus (+) side facing up. The battery sits atop a two-pronged, springy metal component and is held in place by two metal clips, one on each side of the battery. The battery will provide ~ three (3) years of battery life before requiring a replacement.
In addition to the two (2) second button press requirement, the 2GIG PANIC1e-345 has a 5-second button lockout. That means once the panic has been activated, it can't be activated again for at least five (5) seconds. For those using the PANIC1e-345 as a medical panic, it is completely water resistant. This means it can be worn on the lanyard or the wristband in the shower. However, it is not watertight, so it should not be immersed in water. The battery is supervised, and if the panic button transmits an alarm or a check-in signal to the panel once the battery has become low, the panel will indicate this condition. This can also be transmitted to the central station if desired. Average battery life is about three (3) years.
The 2GIG PANIC1e-345 can also be supervised by the alarm panel. That means if it is taken out of range, the alarm panel can provide a notification both locally and at the central station when enabled, that this has occurred. The supervisory interval is 70 minutes, meaning the panic button checks in with the alarm panel once every 70 minutes. If it fails to check in three (3) times in a row, then the panel will display and sound an RF trouble condition for the sensor. This can indicate that the panic button's wearer has left the area where the panel is located. If the button will routinely be taken out of range, supervision of the PANIC1e-345 can be disabled so that this doesn't become a nuisance.
