Honeywell DT7450

The Honeywell DT7450 DUAL TEC Motion Detector provides an effective motion sensor option for commercial settings. It features both microwave and PIR sensors in one single device. Both internal sensors must be triggered for activation, which is great for reducing any false system alarms.

The Honeywell DT7450 is Form A sensor, meaning that it uses Normally Open wiring. For users who would prefer a Form C sensor, the Honeywell DT7450C can be obtained here. As a "dual-tech" motion sensor, the DT7450 utilizes both passive infrared (PIR) and microwave detection methods. The device's PIR sensor responds to environmental changes in infrared energy that occur when motion is present. The microwave sensor continuously sends out microwave signals that should bounce off of other objects and return to the sensor at a consistent rate and pattern. If this pattern is changed, then the sensor will know that there is movement in the area. For the zone to fault, both sensors must be triggered. This is ideal for reducing false alarms. Both the PIR and microwave sensors can be adjusted for sensitivity as needed.

The max coverage area of the DT7450 sensor is 50 by 60 feet, and it was specifically designed for commercial settings. It can cover larger rooms and spaces with ease. Remember though that motion sensors must be mounted properly for best operation. The recommended mounting height for the DT7450 Motion Sensor is 7.5 feet. Additionally, users have the option of replacing the standard lens with a long range lens (sold separately by Honeywell). The long range lens offers 8 tiers of detection and a 50 feet by 10 feet coverage area. This optional lens allows the sensor to perform more effectively in deep narrow areas, such as hallways and corridors.

Other features of the DT7450 include its Advanced DualCore Signal Processing, K-Band technology, dual slope temperature compensation for PIR detection, adjustable pulse count and microwave sensitivity, uniform sensitivity optics, digital adaptive microwave thresholds, digital fluorescent light filter, a zero clearance bug guard and a look down mirror.
