Description
The Honeywell L5000PK is a LYNX Touch wireless security system that includes the L5000 LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel, (3) 5816 wireless door and window sensors, a 5800PIR-RES wireless pet immune motion detector and a 5834-4 wireless security key fob.
The L5000PK LYNX Touch wireless security system will protect (3) main perimeter openings of your home, typically the front, back and side doors, using the wireless door sensors. You can also protect a main living room using the wireless motion detector. You can control the system using the LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel or by using the wireless security key fob.
The installation of the LYNX Touch wireless security system is very easy. First you should push down on the (2) tabs at the top of the L5000 which hold the front case to the back case. We recommend using the blade of a small flat head screwdriver and depressing the tabs one at a time. With both tabs depressed, carefully pull the front case from the back case by swinging the front case down until it is perpendicular to the back case. Mount the back case to a sturdy wall using the included screws and wall anchors and feed the power wire from the 9V, 2.7A AC transformer through the opening in the back case and attach it to the LYNX Touch alarm control panel. If you are using the LT-CABLE power cord to connect the AC transformer, you can plug it into the power supply receptacle. If you use normal alarm wire to connect the AC transformer, make sure to observe polarity and connect the black wire to the (-) terminal on the transformer and then connect the other end of the black wire to the ‘GND’ terminal on the LYNX Touch terminal strip. Connect the red wire to the (+) terminal on the AC transformer and then connect the other end of the red wire to the ‘+9VDC’ terminal on the L5000. After connecting the power supply, you need to insert the backup battery pack into the back case and secure it with the plastic battery retainer using a single screw. Route the battery wire through the (3) battery wire clips and then plug the battery wire into the standard capacity battery connector on the circuit board attached to the front case. If your LYNX Touch wireless security system will be monitored by Alarm Grid using your home telephone service, you must also route an active phone cord through the opening in the back case and plug it into the 8-pin jack on the circuit board. Once all wiring connections are made, swing the front case up until the (2) locking tabs snap into place and your LYNX Touch wireless security system installation is complete.
With your L5000 wireless alarm control panel powered up, the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) touchscreen displays all of the security system icons. In addition to the system icons and associated text, the current time, current system status information and menu choices are also shown on the touchscreen display. Below the touchscreen display, the ‘ARMED’ and ‘READY’ LEDs show when the system is armed or ready to arm. The soft function keys are at the bottom of the LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel and are used to activate a panic alarm, arm the system to away mode, disarm the system and bring you back to the home screen when you are navigating the different system menus. Once you program your Honeywell wireless sensors to the L5000 wireless security system, you are ready to arm the LYNX Touch control panel. Before activating the alarm, all protected doors and windows must be closed and the green ‘READY’ LED must be lit up solid. To arm the system in stay mode, press the ‘Arm Stay’ icon. The L5000 will beep once and pull up the keypad display. Enter your programmed user code using the touchscreen keypad and the system will beep (3) times and say “Armed stay, exit now.” If you enter a wrong digit, you can press the backspace icon (the arrow pointing to the left) to clear the last entered digit.
After the programmed exit delay (60 seconds default), the security system will say “Armed stay” and the armed stay screen will be displayed. If a valid user code is not entered within (10) seconds, the system will return to the home screen and the system will remain disarmed. To arm the system in away mode, press either the soft 'AWAY' button or the ‘Arm Away’ icon on the touchscreen. Enter a valid user code using the displayed touchscreen keypad. The LYNX Touch will beep twice and say “Armed away, exit now.” The system will switch to the exit delay screen and if programmed, will show the remaining seconds as the exit delay counts down. If you have the exit warning programmed, the system will beep slowly and continuously as the exit delay counts down. When there are only (10) seconds remaining, the system will rapidly beep to warn anyone still in the home that the system is about to arm. At the end of the exit delay, the system will say “Armed away” and the armed away screen will be displayed. To disarm the system from either arming mode, select the ‘Disarm’ icon or press the soft ‘OFF’ button. The LYNX Touch wireless security system will beep once and display the touchscreen keypad. After entering a valid user code, the system will beep once and say “Disarmed, ready to arm.” If an alarm occurred during the arming period, the L5000 touchscreen will display the zone number of the wireless sensor that was activated along with the type of alarm (fire, burglar, panic, etc.). You will need to go through the disarm sequence a second time to clear the latched alarm from the security system’s display.
