Description
The Honeywell L5100PK-WIFI-4G is an L5100 LYNX Touch dual path wireless security system that includes two separate AlarmNet alarm monitoring communicators to provide both internet and cellular alarm communications. The L5100-WIFI internet alarm communicator connects wirelessly to your internet router and the GSMVLP5-4G cellular alarm communicator connects wirelessly to AT&T’s advanced 4G cellular network. The L5100PK-WIFI-4G dual path wireless security system combines the speed of internet communications with the reliability of cellular communications. As both communicators are wireless, the only wired connection you will have to make is between the L5100 wireless alarm control panel and the 300-04705 power supply that you will plug into a standard wall outlet to provide power to the L5100 LYNX security system. If you add the LT-CABLE, that connection is as easy as plugging a DC connector into a port on the back of the L5100 alarm control panel and landing the two spade connectors under the screw terminals on the back of the 300-04705 power supply.
In addition to the L5100-WIFI and the GSMVLP5-4G AlarmNet monitoring communicators, the L5100PK-WIFI-4G also includes an L5100 LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel, three 5811 wireless door and window contacts, a 5800PIR-RES wireless motion detector and a wireless key fob. The 5811 wireless door contacts should be used to protect all of the perimeter doors leading into your property. If you have less than three doors, you can use the extra 5811 wireless contacts to protect any windows that would be a good target for an intruder. The 5800PIR-RES wireless motion detector provides an extra layer of protection so that if an intruder manages to break in without setting off the 5811 wireless door and window contacts, an alarm will be triggered as soon as they walk in front of the motion detector. Therefore, we recommend installing the 5800PIR-RES in a main room such as the living room so it is likely that an intruder would pass through the motion detection zone during a break-in. The 5834-4 wireless key fob can be put on your keychain and provides remote one-touch arming or disarming of your L5100 LYNX Touch wireless security system. The L5100 LYNX Touch supports up to (63) wireless zones without needing any extra expansion modules so you can add additional Honeywell 5800 Series wireless devices as well. Choose from wireless door and window contacts, wireless motion detectors, wireless glass break detectors, wireless smoke and heat detectors and wireless environmental sensors to customize the perfect L5100 LYNX Touch dual path wireless security system for your property.
While the L5100 LYNX Touch security system can be hooked up to a regular phone line for alarm monitoring, many people do not have phone lines anymore. Even if you do have a phone line, an intruder could always cut your phone line before breaking in to ensure that your alarm signals would never reach the central station. The L5100PK-WIFI-4G solves both of these problems by including two alternative alarm communication paths. The L5100-WIFI internet alarm communicator plugs right into the edge connector on the L5100 circuit board next to the speaker. Once the internet alarm communicator is connected, you can program it to connect to your wireless network for internet alarm monitoring capability. Internet communications are fast and therefore a good option for alarm monitoring however, there are some situations where your internet service will be unavailable. Unless you have your modem and router connected to a backup battery, you will lose your internet alarm communications with every power outage. Also, your internet service provider (ISP) may experience outages during which your L5100-WIFI will not be able to communicate. Finally, just like a phone line can be cut from the outside, a cable internet line can also be cut. Due to these situations, a security system that relies solely on internet alarm communications is not as reliable as a dual path security system such as the L5100PK-WIFI-4G. The GSMVLP5-4G cellular alarm communicator that plugs directly into the the L5100 alarm control panel provides a backup cellular communication path for anytime your internet connection is unavailable. As both alarm monitoring communicators are supervised by AlarmNet, the L5100 LYNX Touch dual path security system will know that the internet has gone down and will be able to automatically switch over to the GSMVLP5-4G for alarm monitoring purposes.
The Honeywell L5100PK-WIFI-4G is compatible with all of our alarm monitoring plans. You can choose Self Monitoring if you want AlarmNet’s Total Connect service without having to pay extra for central station service. You can choose Basic Monitoring if you just want central station monitoring through the internet and cellular communicators. Finally, you can choose Monitoring Plus if you want central station service and the interactive Total Connect service. Please note that the GSMVLP5-4G that is included in the Honeywell L5100PK-WIFI-4G dual path security system will need to be activated with AT&T’s cellular network and therefore you must choose the ‘Cellular/Wireless Communication’ add on feature when signing up for your Alarm Grid alarm monitoring plan.
