Can I turn off a siren on an L5100 security system?
If you do not want your Honeywell L5100 LYNX Touch alarm control panel to sound an audible alarm, there are two different options. The first option is to simply disconnect the piezo siren from the L5100 circuit board. If you choose this option, the system will not make any sounds at all including chime, keypad beeps or alarms. To disconnect the siren, pull the white clip off of the green circuit board. The white clip has a red, black and yellow wire attached to it so it should be easy to locate. The second option is to program specific zones as a 'Silent Burglary' zone type. With a zone programmed as 'Silent Burglary', the alarm would report to the central station but nothing would happen locally at the L5100 security system when the alarm is triggered. Unfortunately, the 'Silent Burglary' zone type only works for door and window contacts and does not allow for entry delays. The 'Silent Burglary' zones will only activate instant alarms.
Please note that the 'Burglary Alarm Sound' option, within the 'Sounder' programming section, does not turn off the L5100 siren. That option only changes the pitch and tone of the alarm siren.
