Description
The Interlogix 584503-W ShatterPro Glass Break Sensor is used for detecting the sound of breaking glass. The integrated listening module for the device features a full-range 360° detection pattern, and it can accurately detect the sound of breaking glass from up to 20 feet away. This makes it great for monitoring windows, protective glass casings and even pieces of artwork and picture frames. And with the advanced pattern recognition technology of the ShatterPro Sensor, false alarms from similar sounds are almost always prevented.
In order to achieve the best possible performance, the Interlogix 584503-W ShatterPro should be installed near the glass that it is monitoring. This will allow it to detect any breakages that may occur. However, it is important to note that the device should never be installed directly on the surface of a window or glass casing. If the glass were to be broken, it could cause severe damage to the sensor if it were in direct contact. As long as the sensor is placed nearby, it will still be able to detect the sound of breaking glass. The sensor can be tested using a 5709C-W Glass Break Simulator. The device also includes a "clap test" feature that indicates if the sounder is active. This can be handy for quick periodic testing by the alarm owner after the glass break simulator confirmed proper functionality during the initial install.
The 584503-W comes with a mounting bracket and a 3V battery to supply power. One very important note about the sensor is that it does not come with an integrated wireless transmitter. Instead, the 584503-W functions more like that of a hardwired sensor. To use the device with an Interlogix System, it will need to connect with an Interlogix wireless transmitter. A great wireless transmitter to use for this application is the Interlogix TX-E231. The transmitter will send a wireless signal to the alarm system on the behalf of the 584503-W. This device will allow the 584503-W Glass Break to be used with any Interlogix Simon Alarm System, as well as any Qolsys Alarm System with the 319.5MHz daughtercard. If you would like to use a wireless glass break sensor that does not require a transmitter, we recommend checking out the Interlogix NX-488 ShatterPro Wireless Crystal Glass Break Sensor instead. The 584503-W can be integrated with a Honeywell or 2GIG alarm system by using the 5816's hardwired input (loop 1).
