Description

The Interlogix 600-1048-XT-LTE-VZ is an Alarm.com cellular communicator that operates on the Verizon LTE cellular network. This add-on communication module provides lightning fast LTE speeds, and it opens up a new realm of technological capabilities on the versatile Alarm.com platform.

This module is easy to install, and simply inserts into the housing of the main control panel. After the module is activated by the Alarm.com provider, the panel will immediately become more versatile than ever possible with a landline phone connection. Also the communication speeds for the panel will noticeably improve. Overall, this is the single most important upgrade you can make for your Simon alarm panel.

The Verizon LTE Cellular Module is compatible with Simon XT V1.3+, Simon XTi and Simon XTi-5 Alarm System. The device fits conveniently inside the panel, and no tools are needed to complete the installation process. The Alarm.com dealer will remotely activate the communicator so that the user can immediately begin taking advantage of its features and capabilities. Please note that an alarm monitoring plan that includes cellular communication is required to use this communicator.

The biggest feature provided from the communicator is the ability for the Interlogix Panel to sync with Alarm.com and all the beneficial cloud level integrations like Nest Thermostats, MyQ garage door control and Amazon Alexa voice control. The Alarm.com platform is a special interactive service designed for select panels via cellular communication. With older generation CDMA and 3G networks eventually being phased out by faster LTE this module is the best way to future-proof your home or business security system. This service allows users to arm and disarm their system, check the status of programmed sensors and operate Z-Wave devices. By using the Alarm.com Mobile App, a user can perform these functions from anywhere with suitable cellular service. The Alarm.com service presents a major convenience for end users, and it makes using an alarm system easier than ever.

The cellular module also includes an integrated Z-Wave controller for the Interlogix System. Z-Wave is a type of wireless radio frequency that is used to operate Z-Wave home automation devices. Z-Wave devices can be controlled from the alarm panel or remotely using the Alarm.com service. Some common types of Z-Wave devices include lights, thermostats and door locks. Users can also set up rules and scenes for their Z-Wave devices so that they activate automatically when certain events occur on the system. For example, a user can set up their Z-Wave devices to activate when they disarm their alarm system or trigger a motion detector.

Note: This is the Verizon LTE version of the Interlogix cellular communicator. There is also an AT&T LTE version of the communicator. The version that a user selects has nothing to do with their regular cellular service provider. We recommend choosing whichever service tends to work best in the user's area. If AT&T functions better if your area, you should choose that cellular module instead.

Note: Simon XT panels must be firmware version 1.3 or higher to support this radio.

Note: This cellular module can only work with the Simon XTi-5i if the module has firmware version 191C or higher. Any 600-1048-XT-LTE-VZ that is running a firmware version of 189C or higher can still be activated so that a firmware update can be pushed down to the module from Alarm.com. If the module is running a firmware version of 188 or lower, then it cannot be used with a Simon XTi-5i. If you are not sure of the firmware version for your module, you can provide us with its IMEI number, and we can check it for you. Any new module you purchase from Alarm Grid should be running the latest firmware at the time of purchase.

Good LTE Communicator

The Interlogix 600-1048-XT-LTE-VZ is a Verizon LTE Communicator and Z-Wave controller for an Interlogix Simon Series Alarm Panel. The module works with most Simon XT, Simon XTi, Simon XTi-5, and Simon XTi-5i Systems, though there are some firmware requirements to keep in mind. By installing and activating this communicator, your Interlogix Simon Series Panel will be able to communicate with the Alarm.com Servers for monitoring service. Just be aware that you will need a monitoring plan that includes cellular service and access to Alarm.com in order to activate this communicator. Overall, this is a great no-frills cellular communicator for the compatible Interlogix Simon Systems. We give it a 5 Star rating.

There are many things to like about the Interlogix 600-1048-XT-LTE-VZ. For one, it provides reliable cellular connectivity through the Verizon LTE Network. Cellular connectivity almost never goes down or becomes unavailable, making it arguably the single best communication path for an alarm system. And as an LTE communicator, you can expect this module to keep your system monitored well into the very distant future. We also appreciate the fact that a Z-Wave controller is built-in, as it will open up many home automation possibilities for your Interlogix Security System.

There are some downsides to keep in mind when using the Interlogix 600-1048-XT-LTE-VZ. The most glaring is that there are certain firmware requirements to use the module. If you have a Simon XT, it must be at least firmware version 1.3. Updating older firmware can be difficult or impossible, so make sure to check the firmware first if you have a Simon XT. You should also be aware that older versions of the Interlogix 600-1048-XT-LTE-VZ may have trouble interfacing with Simon XTi-5i Systems. Fortunately, any new model you purchase on our site will not have this issue and will work with Simon XTi-5i Systems. But this is something to keep in mind if you come across an older model somewhere else. Finally, you should be aware that there are newer and more advanced Interlogix Simon Communicators that offer dual-path connectivity (LTE & IP) and Z-Wave Plus functionality. The Interlogix 600-1040-XT-LTE-VZ is much less advanced and more of a "no-frills" option.

The Interlogix 600-1048-XT-LTE-VZ is good for what it is. It will provide your Simon System with reliable monitoring service, and for some people, that's enough. For that reason, we give it 5 Stars.

Good: Reliable Connectivity, Verizon LTE Network, Built-In Z-Wave Controller

Bad: Firmware Requirements, Older Models Cannot Interface w/ Simon XTi5i, More Advanced Communicators Available

Bottom Line: 5 Stars

Thank you Aja. Another quick question when you have the time. I’m thinking about getting the monitoring service since it costs the same as phone service. I have the 600-1048 cellular zwave module but not the dual ip one which I wish I would’ve got now since they’re the same price. Does the cellular module I have also provide ip service as well? Does it cost the same? Basic gold $35? Thanks again.
Hi LP, A monitoring company is required to provide the cellular service.
Do you need the monitoring service to use the cdma cellular module? I use a landline currently and don’t pay a monitoring service. I just have the alarm dial myself. Thank you.
