Description
The Kwikset Obsidian Touchscreen Z-Wave Deadbolt Lock offers great convenience and ease of use for end users. It is a simple, yet highly effective device that uses advanced technology to keep a home safe and secure. And users will greatly appreciate the sleek design that adds to the decor.
The Keyless Obsidian Lock is named after the sleek and smooth volcanic rock of the same name. The robust Z-Wave lock was given this title for its glossy black finish that doesn't draw direct attention to itself, but looks impressively neat and polished when it is noticed. The layout of the device is not complex by any means, and it is very easy for an end user to operate on a daily basis. The lock uses no physical keys, and it is operated entirely using its touchscreen keypad. This way, a user will no longer have to worry about carrying around and using a physical key for their home. All activation will be done on the keypad. Up to 16 codes can be stored in the lock.
Behind the scenes, the Z-Wave lock will be communicating with the user's security system. Any system user code will work on the keypad, providing the user with easy access into the building. But advanced SecureScreen technology will prevent any unwanted entry, while 128-bit AES encryption will stop any potential wireless attacks. The lock itself is extremely secure, meeting BHMA Grade 2 Deadbolt Operational and Security Standards. It truly is one of the most secure locks available today.
The SecureScreen for the Obsidian Lock works by having the touchscreen go blank after a period of inactivity. Touching the keypad in any location will activate it. The keypad will then display two randomly generated numbers on the screen. Both numbers must be pressed to display the complete touchscreen. Only then can a user enter in a valid code to open the lock. By using this technology, different numbers on the keypad will be entered on the keypad every time. This will prevent an intruder from simply looking at the keypad and seeing which digits have fingerprints on them in an effort to determine the access code.
Other features for the the Obsidian include he ability to manage user codes (up to 16), setting up a Master Code for user code management, an optional auto-lock feature and a backup power source option. Please also note that the Obsidian uses Z-Wave Plus technology for ultra-reliable communication and extended range.
