Qolsys IQ Lockdown

The Qolsys IQ Lockdown is a Z-Wave Plus capable, high-strength, magnetic lock that can be controlled in a number of different ways. It allows for quick and simple door locking in the event of an emergency. Up to 20 IQ Lockdowns, can be installed on a single IQ Panel.

Designed for commercial applications, the Qolsys IQ Lockdown is a simple add-on solution to any existing place of business, school, safe room, or religious meeting place. It is battery-operated, easy to install, and does not require any 120VAC wire runs. The battery should arrive with at least a 30% charge. It is recommended to fully charge the battery before use. It can take approximately 6-8 hours to fully charge. It includes a 120VAC USB power adapter and a USB charging cable. The battery is a long-life, rechargeable, lithium-polymer battery (LiPo). Under normal use, the battery, which provides 3.7V and has a 5200 mAh capacity, can last up to 2 years on a single charge.

The Qolsys IQ Lockdown measures 14.75” L x 4.2” W x 3.8” H (37.46cm X 10.66cm X 9.65cm). It is compatible with inward and outward swinging doors. It consists of military-grade materials, and is designed to be mounted to a standard 2" door frame that is backed with poured concrete. There is also a hollow door frame hardware kit, sold separately. This kit is needed when installing the IQ Lockdown on a hollow door frame. For best results, the door should be a solid wood core or a metal door in good condition. Per the spec sheet, the IQ Lockdown is said to be up to 10X stronger than a deadbolt.

Although designed for the IQ Panel, being a Z-Wave Plus lock, the Qolsys IQ Lockdown can easily pair with virtually any Z-Wave classic or Z-Wave Plus controller. When your IQ Lockdown arrives, it will be in a deep sleep mode. You will need to wake it by pressing the reset button with a paper clip. It is then recommended to cycle the lock 10 times before installation. Cycling the lock involves manually locking and unlocking it. After pairing with the Z-Wave controller, it is also recommended to cycle the lock through the controller or app 5 times. This ensures proper operation and servo cycling.

The lock should be installed by strictly following the installation manual. The first step is determining if the installation will be on an inward or outward swing installation. The IQ Lockdown includes an LED and an internal sounder. Both of these features are useful for installation, battery charging, and normal operation. Page 11 of the install guide, details how to interpret LED and sounder activity. The Qolsys IQ Lockdown also has a 5-conductor wiring harness to connect accessories, such as egress, emergency or panic lock, motion sensing, and others. The Qolsys IQ Lockdown comes with a pre-wired green egress button that can be detached if it is not going to be used. Page 14 of the above referenced installation manual details the wiring configuration for the harness. The egress button allows unlocking to occur from the push of a button.
