It is a visual notification device, which is excellent for use in areas where a siren is either impossible or impractical to use, such as when used in homes for hearing impaired or deaf persons. It provides a 62,000 candle power visual output.

Sirens and strobe lights often work together, and there are a number of siren/strobe combinations available. The WBOX OE-OUTDSIRS is one example. It is also rated for indoor or outdoor use and has a 120 dB sounder combined with a strobe light. It comes in the same clear, amber, red, or blue lens options. However, in some cases, a siren is not desired. It could be that a user has pets that they want to spare from hearing the sound of the siren when the alarm goes off.

Strobe lights work by charging and then discharging rapidly. For this reason, be sure that the voltage being provided to the WBOX OE-STROBERP is steady rather than pulsing. Many residential alarm panels provide a steady siren output voltage in the event of a burglary alarm but provide a pulsing siren output for a fire alarm. A pulsing output is not suitable for use with a strobe light as it will not allow the strobe to charge and then discharge normally.
