Description

The Yale YRD256 Assure SL is a sleek and powerful Z-Wave Plus lock from Assa Abbloy. This key-less door lock comes in three (3) finishing options (Polished Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Satin Nickel). This versatile and effective lock combines fashion and function into one exceptional product!

There are many great features for the Yale YRD256 Assure SL. For one, you can unlock your door without using any keys by using a set code. You can then lock the door behind you with a quick tap. Or you can enable the Auto Re-Lock feature to have the lock do it for you! This feature can be disabled if you do not want the device to auto-lock. The lock allows you to create multiple codes that you can share as needed. And you can always delete codes later if you need to. The lock can remember up to 25 codes.

A great aspect of the Yale YRD256 is that it replaces your existing deadbolt lock quite easily. It can be used with nearly any standard door that measures 1.75" to 2.25" thick. You only need a screwdriver to complete the installation. The lock even features a rubber gasket to make sure your door's finish is protected. And the locks is certified BHMA Grade 2 to keep your property nice and secure. The lock uses four (4) AA batteries for power. Its expected battery life is about a year with regular use. The device is suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -22°F to 140°F.

As the Yale YRD256 Lock is completely key-free, there is also a battery port on the bottom side of the exterior part of the lock. This port will accept a 9VDC battery charge if you ever need to quickly power the device. If you ever need to get into the building while the lock is completely powered down, there is an easy solution. Just hold up a loose 9V battery up to the port, and enter your code. This will get you inside in a pinch! We recommend leaving a 9V battery somewhere handy outside or in your car. This should be somewhere that is sheltered from any weather.

The YRD256 should work nicely with any Z-Wave or Z-Wave Plus controller or hub. This includes most of the alarm systems sold on our website. Remember to clear the device from the network before attempting to pair it. By pairing this lock with your security system, you will also be able to control it from Total Connect 2.0 or Alarm.com if you have access to one of these great platforms.

Note: An Apple HomeKit model is also available. It can be purchased here.

Great Touchscreen Door Lock!
Submitted on 04/22/2020 Alarm Grid

The Yale YRD256 is a Z-Wave Plus touchscreen door lock that can interface with virtually any Z-Wave controller. Yale and Assa Abbloy are known for their high-quality door locks, and the YRD256 Assure SL continues that trend. This lock offers a BHMA Grade 2 rating, which is excellent for residential use. It includes some nice features, such as auto re-lock, the ability to store and remember 25 unique user codes, a rubber gasket to protect the door's finish, and an emergency charge battery port at the bottom. The lock is completely key-free, meaning you will no longer need to carry around a set of keys to get in and out. Users also appreciate the three (3) beautiful finishing options available for the lock, and it really looks nice once installed. We have plenty of nice things to say about the YRD256, and we have no problem giving it a 5 Star rating.

We have found that the Yale YRD256 offers excellent reliability, and it provides all of the features you would expect out of a high-quality Z-Wave Plus door lock. It will work great on just about any residential door, and you will be extremely pleased with its fashionable appearance and design. There aren't many downsides for the lock, but you should keep a couple in mind. For one, like any touch screen, there is the possibility that it could fail or become damaged. In that sense, the lock is technically less reliable than a more traditional push-button device. Also the lock will need to be installed and replace your existing door lock. The process can be completed using a screwdriver, but it is still something you have trouble with if you are not good with tools.

Overall, there are many great things we appreciate about the YRD256. It gets a 5 Star rating.

Good: Great Build-Quality, Beautiful Design w/ 3 Finishing Options, Auto Re-Lock Feature, 25 User Codes, Rubber Gasket, Key-Free, Reliable Touchscreen, Z-Wave Plus, Extremely Secure

Bad: Small Possibility of Touchscreen Failure, Must Be Installed

Bottom Line: 5 Stars

That is not something that I have seen. Were you using the lock as a stand-alone lock prior to attempting to pair it? This will sometimes cause issues. I would recommend you follow this Video/FAQ and Default the lock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIm2jKYKqLc Once that's been done, I'd make sure the lock and the Lyric panel are in close proximity to one another during pairing. These locks pair in a low power mode, in part to prevent tampering from outside. Also, they need to stay in close proximity with one another for about 10 minutes in order to complete the process, in particular if you have several users in the panel that you plan to give access to the lock.
have you run into any issues connecting it to the Lyric panel? when ever i try to connect it it stays in "Still not Ready Lock" mode and then fails. on occasion i also get a "Maximum of this device type included" even though i have reset the controller on the Lyric and reset the yale lock to factory.
