How Do I Include My Yale Z-Wave Lock With My Honeywell Lyric?
You can include your Yale Z-Wave Lock with your Honeywell Lyric by putting the system into its inclusion mode and then activating the lock's inclusion function. The lock's Master Pin will be required. In some cases, you may need to try defaulting the lock before it will pair successfully.
By pairing a Yale Lock with a Honeywell Lyric Alarm System, you will be able to control the lock from the panel and include it with smart scenes. If the system is monitored with access to Total Connect 2.0, then you will be able to control it from that platform as well. This is the best way to get the very most out of your Z-Wave door lock.
Please note that the lock can only be paired with one Z-Wave hub at a time. If you want to pair it with a different hub, then you will need to clear it from the network. Yale Z-Wave Locks are very smart, and they will already know if they are paired with a network or not. If the lock is not currently paired, then no exclusion process is required.
This FAQ assumes that you know the Master Pin for the lock. This Master Pin is set during the initial set up process. If you do not know the Master Pin, then you will need to perform a factory default for the lock. But if you know the Master Pin and the lock has not yet been paired with a Z-Wave controller, then you can proceed like normal. Remember that you should have the lock nearby the Lyric System when completing the pairing process.
Complete the following steps to pair a Yale Z-Wave Lock with a Honeywell Lyric Controller:
1. Enter Lyric inclusion mode. Begin from the home screen of the Honeywell Lyric Controller. Choose Automation, then the down arrow, then Tools, then Include Devices. The Lyric will now be in its Z-Wave inclusion mode.
2. Pair the lock. On the Yale Lock, press the touchscreen to get the numeric display to appear. You may need to touch it a few times before anything is displayed. Enter the Master Pin, followed by the Gear Icon in the bottom right corner. Then press 7, followed by the Gear Icon again. The digit 1 should be displayed, indicating that the lock is now in its inclusion mode. If you see the number 3 instead of the number 1, then the lock is already paired with a network, and it is in its exclusion mode, which is not what you want. Assuming that you see a 1, press the Gear Icon one more time to confirm. The lock should then pair with the Lyric.
If you did not move quickly enough, then the Lyric or the lock may have exited their respective inclusion modes. If that is the case, simply press Include on the Lyric and/or the Gear Icon. Once the Lyric recognizes the lock, it will include it into the Z-Wave network. Please note that it may take a few minutes for the inclusion process to finalize so that the lock can be controlled from the panel. You will know this because the Lyric will say that the lock is "not ready". Just wait a few moments, and the lock should be usable.
3. Return to main menu. Now that the lock has been successfully paired with your Lyric Alarm System, you can return to the main menu. To do this, simply press the return arrow in the upper right corner until you are taken back to the main screen.
Note: For some Yale Lock models, the # key is used instead of the Gear Icon.
