PowerG Outdoor Motion Sensors
PowerG Outdoor Motion Sensors are built for use with PowerG Alarm Control Panels. This includes systems like the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus, the DSC Iotega, and all of the DSC PowerSeries NEO Panels with added wireless receiver. These sensors are perfect if you need a reliable motion detection device for use in an outdoor environment. You can auto-enroll these sensors just like you would any other wireless PowerG device on your system. Then you will have a perfectly capable outdoor motion sensor for us with your alarm system.
Most of the PowerG Outdoor Motion Sensors use passive infrared (PIR) technology to detect motion. This means that these sensors work by looking for changes in infrared (IR) energy that occur with movement. Every person and object gives off a small amount of IR energy. The PowerG Outdoor Motion Sensors are able to detect this IR energy and determine when movement is present. This is done by looking for the change in IR energy that occurs when the person or object comes into the sensor's field of view. Once the sensor detects this change, it will alert the system to the activity.
But these sensor offer more than just reliable detection capabilities. As outdoor sensors, they are prepared to withstand the harshness of an outdoor environment. They can handle high heat, windy days, rain, sleet, snow, hail, dust, and excessive sunlight. Just be aware that these sensors are weather-resistant, not weatherproof. You may still want to bring them inside during a hurricane or a severe snowstorm. Also, while they can handle some heavy rain, you should not dunk these sensors into water. They are water-resistant, not waterproof.
As PowerG Sensors, these PowerG Outdoor Motion Sensors boast some impressive capabilities. The PowerG Sensors operate at 915 MHz, and they can work from up to two (2) kilometers away with certain security systems. The PowerG Sensors will work with any version of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus, the DSC Iotega, and all of the DSC PowerSeries NEO Panels once you add a compatible wireless receiver. You can even add a PowerG Wireless Repeater to extend this already impressive range to a maximum distance of up to four (4) kilometers away with certain systems.
PowerG Sensors also utilize 128-bit AES encryption in all of their communication. This makes it nearly impossible for intruders to hack or takeover these sensors. A savvy intruder may actually try and attack the unprotected sensors on an alarm system using radio equipment. This renders those non-encrypted sensors useless, and it allows an intruder to access your property. But you won't have to worry about that with PowerG Outdoor Motion Sensors. Their 128-bit AES encryption makes them extremely secure and virtually impossible to takeover. This gives you the peace of mind you deserve.
