Can I Activate A GSMX4G If I'm Not A Dealer?
No, only Honeywell dealers can activate a Honeywell GSMX4G cellular communicator.
An end user will need to provide a Honeywell dealer with the MAC ID and CRC numbers of the GSMX4G to register and activate the cellular communicator.
The Honeywell GSMX4G is compatible with the Honeywell Lynx Plus (L3000) panel when paired with a GSMEXT and all the Honeywell Vista series control panels, like the Vista-15P, Vista-20P and Vista-128BPT (just to name a few). The GSMX4G is compatible with the Vista-21iP control panel, though usually, when using an AlarmNet communicator with these panels, the Vista-GSM4G is used.
The Honeywell GSMX4G cellular communicator draws very low current and can be powered directly from the Vista control panel’s ECP terminals.
Once a Honeywell GSMX4G cellular communicator is registered and activated by a Honeywell dealer, it will send alarm signals to AlarmNet servers which then forward the signals to a central monitoring station and Total Connect 2.0, if enabled.
Having monitoring by both a central monitoring station and a Total Connect 2.0 account is the best of both worlds. Trained central station monitoring operators will confirm false alarms and contact authorities if needed and Total Connect 2.0 will also send notifications via email and or text messages on any alarm signal or event.
Total Connect 2.0 allows users to control a Honeywell alarm system, home automation and video surveillance from any smartphone, computer or iOS device.
The GSMX4G cellular communicator eliminates the need for a land line, however, users can still connect a landline for dual path communication. The most secure path of communication is dual path communication. If users do not have a landline, the iGSMV4G dual path communicator is a great option.
The iGSMV4G provides both IP and cellular communication. IP will be the first path of communication and if the internet communication is lost for any reason the gsm cellular communicator will kick in and continue to provide communication for the alarm panel.Did you find this answer useful?
