Can I Connect a 5800Wave Siren to a Lyric Gateway?
A 5800WAVE siren cannot be connected to a Lyric Gateway at this time.
The newest all in one panel released by Honeywell is the Lyric Gateway. The 5800WAVE is a wireless siren that plugs into a 110 volt outlet and has its own backup battery. The 5800WAVE requires a House ID for use, and at this time the Gateway doesn’t support the House ID feature. Honeywell has said that they plan to add this feature to the system in the future with a firmware update, but we can’t be certain when, or if, this will happen. With that said, the Gateway is compatible with the SiX Siren. This is a wireless, bi-directional siren that has a 300 foot operating range. The siren outputs 85 dB at 10 feet, can be programmed to chime when a door or window is opened, and has a battery life of about 5 years.
The system is manufactured with a built in Z-Wave Plus controller. Though the system supports many Z-Wave devices used for convenience, it is not compatible with any security or life safety related Z-Wave devices such as motion detectors, smoke and CO detectors, door sensors or sirens. The Z-Wave protocol is still considered unreliable for these purposes. Only lifestyle enhancement Z-Wave devices can be enrolled such as lights, locks and thermostats. Security devices from the 5800 wireless line and the SiX Device wireless line are compatible with the system.
A user can map up to 76 Z-Wave devices to the Lyric Gateway at one time. The Gateway can have 6 Z-Wave door locks, 6 Z-Wave thermostats and 4 Z-Wave garage door openers simultaneously enrolled. The remaining available device slots can be filled with Z-Wave light modules, dimmer switches, appliance modules, motorized valves and levers, automated blinds, garage door openers, and more. The Gateway can also interface with 4 Lyric WIFI thermostats. The Lyric Thermostats occupy their own programming location and do not use Z-Wave device slots, and must be integrated to the panel through Total Connect 2.0.
