Can I upgrade the firmware revision on my Safewatch Pro 3000?
The firmware revision on the Safewatch Pro 3000 can be upgraded by swapping in a PROM chip upgrade. The Safewatch Pro 3000 is an ADT branded Honeywell VISTA-20P. It is essentially the same panel except for some minor hard-coded differences such as burglary dial delay. This is false alarm reduction tactic that is designed to hold an alarm before it is sent. With that said, the best way to upgrade your Safewatch Pro 3000 is to remove the panel's PROM chip and replace it with a VISTA-20P PROM chip upgrade. The current revision is 10.23 and we offer the most updated PROM chip available by Honeywell.
Ideally, you should purchase a PROM chip extractor but with gentle use paper clips can work. It is essential that you power down the system completed by removing battery and AC power before swapping the PROM. The PROM chip does not store any programming data so zones, user codes, etc. will not be lost. Upgrading the PROM is the only to setup the Total Connect 2.0 service on Safewatch Pros before revision 9.12. Learn how to setup Total Connect 2.0 on your Safewatch Pro 3000. We offer Total Connect with no contract for only $10 per month without any activation fee!
