Does a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Chime When Doors are Opened?
Yes, a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 does chime when doors are opened. In order for the system to chime when a door is opened, the chime function for that zone must be enabled. Additionally, the chime function for the system as a whole must also be enabled, and the volume for the chimes must be turned up.
The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 allows users to configure unique chime settings for each individual zone. This can be used to establish a distinct chime sound for each sensor. In order for any chimes to work, the feature must be enabled. It is also important that the volume is turned up. If the system is muted, then the chimes will not be heard.
Some users may report not hearing a chime when a sensor is activated. If you are not hearing the system chime when a door is opened, complete the following steps:
1. Access sound settings. Start from the main screen of the IQ Panel 2. Press the small grey bar at the top of the screen. Choose Settings, followed by Advanced Settings. Then enter in the system's Installer Code or Dealer Code. These default codes are 1111 and 2222 respectively. The system's Master Code can also be used to access this menu. Then choose Sound. This will take you into the sound settings menu.
2. Check the volume. Click on the Volume option. Make sure the Beeps and Chimes Volume setting is set high enough so you can hear it. Then press Close.
3. Check the individual chimes. Click on Edit Chimes. Then locate the sensor with the chime you want to adjust. Make sure that its Chime Type is not set to "None", as this will have the system produce no chime when the sensor is activated. Instead, choose the Chime Type you want for that device. Click the "Save" button once you have selected a chime. Then click the return arrow at the bottom of the screen.
4. Check the system chimes. Scroll down to Chime Settings. Make sure that "Sensor Chimes" are enabled. If they aren't, the system will not produce a chime when the sensor is activated. If you also wish for voice announcement be sure "Panel Voices" and "Sensors" are enabled within Voice Settings. Chime only, Voice Only, both, or neither can be selected. But remember, the settings in this section will effect all zones, while the settings in step 3 will effect each individual zone. Once you finish with your selections, you can press the picture of the house at the bottom of the screen to return to the main menu.
