Honeywell 5800MINI vs Honeywell 5819WHS
The Honeywell 5800MINI and the Honeywell 5819WHS are different wireless sensors from the Honeywell 5800 Series. They both communicate at a frequency of 345 MHz, making them compatible with the same alarm systems. But they perform different functions, and the 5800MINI is the smaller sensor.
Both the 5800MINI and the 5819WHS can be used as a door and window contact. However, the 5819WHS is a multi-purpose sensor with a few different uses, while the 5800MINI can only be utilized as an alarm contact. The 5800MINI comes included with its own magnet for use as a door and window contact. But to use the 5819WHS as a door and window sensor, a Honeywell 5899 Magnet must be purchased separately. Both devices can be mounted in a similar manner, using screws or double-sided foam tape.
The 5819WHS can be programmed using different Loop Numbers in order to change its functionality. Depending on its Loop Number, a 5819WHS can be used as a door and window contact, a wireless transmitter for a normally closed hardwired sensor, or as a a shock sensor for monitoring glass windows or casings. If the 5819WHS is programmed with the system using multiple wireless zones, it can perform each function simultaneously, provided that each zone is configured to use a different Loop Number of the sensor. On the other hand, the 5800MINI can only be used for a single function as a door or window contact, nothing more.
But the 5800MINI has a few of its own advantages. For one, it is more compact than the 5819WHS, and most people would say that the 5800MINI has the more aesthetically pleasing design. Also, the 5800MINI includes a built-in LED light to facilitate quick and proper placement of the sensor in relation to the magnet. Finally, many users will like the fact that they will not have to purchase a separate magnet for the 5800MINI.
