Honeywell 6160 vs 6162?
The 6160 and the 6162 are alpha-numeric keypads with backlit displays, but the 6162 was makes programming wired systems slightly easier than the 6160. The 6162's user-friendly programming mode and sleeker, round design are meant to mimic Honeywell's more modern keypads like the Tuxedo Touch.
The 6160 and the 6162 have some big differences that set the keypads apart. The 6160 has 2 lines to display information while the 6162 has 4 lines. The 6160 can hand program a VISTA system but the entire process must be done step by step. Hand programming with a 6160 can be difficult as one button press or incorrect data entry can prevent the system from working. 6160 hand programming is definitely very time consuming also.
The 6162 helps remedy this with its custom menu mode programming. To use the this feature, the VISTA system must be of a certain firmware:

The 6162 menu mode programming lets you program the basic settings on the VISTA system. The menu mode programming displays the programming fields in menus on the 6162’s display. The programming options are in english, easy to understand and able to be quickly interacted with. Compared to the 6160’s hand programming, the 6162 gives users the ability to program their VISTA system much faster and with an easier to understand user interface. The 6162 can also use the regular hand programming mode found on the 6160 for updating any advanced level VISTA programming.
