Honeywell L5210 vs Qolsys IQ Panel 2
The Honeywell L5210 and the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 are two different alarm panels. They are both wireless all-in-one systems, and they are both very easy to use and set up. However, the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 is the more robust system, and it requires fewer add-ons than the HoneywellL L5210.
With the proper add-ons, the L5210 can do almost everything the IQ Panel 2 can. These add-ons include a WIFI module, a cellular module and a Z-Wave controller. Meanwhile, the IQ Panel 2 comes WIFI, cellular and Z-Wave ready right out of the box. The IQ Panel 2 is also superior in many other ways. It has a larger touchscreen (7 inches vs 4.3 inches), more wireless zones (128 vs 63) and space for a greater number of user codes (242 vs 48). The IQ Panel 2 also comes with a built-in camera, while the L5210 does not.
The panels are also very different in terms of compatibility. This is largely due to the fact that they are produced by different manufacturers. The Honeywell L5210 connects with wireless Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors at a frequency of 345 MHz, and it syncs with the Total Connect interactive service. The IQ Panel 2 connects with wireless sensors at a frequency of 319.5 MHz, and it syncs with the Alarm.com interactive service. Also the Qolsys IQ Panel is compatible with the encrypted S-Line Sensors from Qolsys. But there are no encrypted wireless sensors that are compatible with the L5210.
If you're deciding between these two panels, we recommend choosing the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. It is the newer of the two systems, and it provides greater usability with fewer add-ons. If you want to go with a Honeywell System, we recommend the Honeywell Lyric Controller. The Lyric is newer than the L5210, and it is a direct competitor to the IQ Panel 2. However, if you have an old L5210, you don't necessarily have to upgrade. The L5210 is a fine system that will work well for most users. With the proper upgrades, it can handle almost any task needed from a modern security system. And remember, to get the most out of any system, you will need the appropriate alarm monitoring service.
