How Do I Add a User Code to My Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS?

You can add a user code to your Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS by entering User Management, clicking plus (+) in the top-right, providing a user name, entering and confirming a PIN code, setting partition access, and clicking "Add" in the top-right. This also applies to the Resideo PROA7PLUSC.

You can add up to 96 unique user codes to a PROA7PLUS or PROA7PLUSC. Each user code will have an authority level set for each partition on the system. This lets you customize the authority and access for each code. For example, you might give a code authority for arming and disarming Partition 1, but no authority for controlling Partition 2. If you do not have multiple partitions set up on the system, you will just configure the settings for Partition 1 to give the code the proper level of authority.

After you finish initially adding a code, you can go back into the settings menu for that user to set up the additional options of Bluetooth disarming and Z-Wave lock control. These settings are not displayed when you are initially creating a new user. They only appear in the user settings menu after you have already built the code and you are going back to edit an existing user that is already set up. This will be briefly covered near the end of this FAQ.

Complete the following steps to add a user code to a PROA7PLUS or PROA7PLUSC:

1. Access User Management Menu. Start from the main screen of the system. Press the three horizontal bars button at the bottom. Select Settings, followed by User Management. Then enter the system's Installer Code (default 4112), Master Code (default 1234), or any added user code that has Partition Master level authority for at least one system partition. You will enter the User Management Menu after providing the code.

Please be aware that if you use a Partition Master User Code to access User Management, then you will be restricted to granting/removing access for user codes for the partition(s) that the code has Master-level authority over. But if you use the IC or MC to access the menu, then you will be able to make edits across all partitions.

2. Create the new user. Press the plus (+) icon in the upper-right corner, This will make a keyboard appear. Use the keyboard to type the name for the new user code. Press the blue Save bottom in the bottom-right once finished. You will go to an edit screen for the new user. This is where you can change the user settings.

3. Set the user PIN. The PIN refers to the code associated with the user. Whenever the PIN is entered, the system will assume that the assigned user is controlling the system. You set a custom PIN when creating a new user. Find the entry field for PIN, and click the pencil icon to the right of it. A numeric keypad will appear. Use the keypad to enter the desired PIN. You cannot use a PIN that is already assigned to a different user. When it comes to choosing a PIN, the best bet is to select one that is easy for you to remember, but difficult for someone else to guess. Upon entering the PIN, you must confirm it by entering it a second time. Once you do that, you will be taken back to the user settings screen.

4. Set partition authority. The partition authority settings determine what a user code is capable of doing. You will see every active partition on the system at the bottom of the screen. If partitions have not been set up yet, then you will only see Partition 1, which will represent the entire system in that case. You will want to set the proper authority level for this user for each partition. To do this, click on the current authority level for a partition to pull up a list of all the possible options. You can choose from any of the authority levels listed below.

  • None - The user code won't be able to arm, disarm, bypass zones or control the partition.
  • User - The user code can arm, disarm, and bypass zones in the partition, but it cannot configure the partition settings.
  • Guest - The user code can arm the partition. It can also disarm the partition, but only if it was the code used to arm it for that arming session.
  • Arm Only - The user code can arm the partition. It can never disarm the partition or configure partition settings.
  • Partition Master - The highest level of authority besides the System Master. This code can arm and disarm the partition as well as bypass zones. It can also be used to edit the settings for other user codes of lesser authority in regards to the partition. That is, it can give other user codes the ability to control that partition, and it can also take that privilege away. A Partition Master cannot edit another Partition Master, or the System Master, but it can edit itself.
  • Duress - This code will have the same authority as a User, but in addition, it will trigger a secret duress signal that will be sent to the central station, if enabled. Duress codes are meant to be used if a person is forced to disarm the system under some type of threat. You may want to learn more about duress codes by reviewing this FAQ.

Proceed to the next step after you have configured the authority level for each partition.

5. Save the code. Press the Add button in the upper-right corner. You will need to provide a code with authority to finish. The code you enter here can be the Master Code (default 1234), or you can use a user code that has Partition Master authority for every partition that the new code is being granted access to. If you enter the Installer Code (default 4112), then you will get a "failed" message. But if you provide the Master Code or a user code with proper access, then you will be returned to the User Management Menu.

6. Configure Bluetooth and Z-Wave. For the PROA7PLUS and PROA7PLUSC, you can set optional features for a user code. These options include assigning a Bluetooth phone to the user code thus enabling automatic Bluetooth disarming and/or setting up Z-Wave lock control for the user code. If you want to set up either of those features, click on the newly added code in the User Management Menu, and then choose the desired option towards the bottom of the screen.

To enable Bluetooth Disarming, click on "Disarm with Bluetooth" once you're on the user edit screen. You'll be taken to a device pairing screen. Select PAIR from the upper-right side of the screen. Pair the user's phone with the PROA7PLUS or PROA7PLUSC by following the on-screen prompts. If a user has a Bluetooth device paired, the Bluetooth Disarming feature will automatically be enabled. A single user can have more than one device paired with the panel, but no more than six (6) total devices can be paired across all users.

To enable Z-Wave Lock syncing, click in the section titled "Zwave Lock Control" on the same user edit screen. A drop-down with three (3) options will appear; None, Sync User Code to Lock, Sync User Code to Lock & Disarm. These options are explained in detail below:

  • None - This option means that the code being edited will not be pushed to any Z-Wave lock associated with the system.
  • Sync User Code to Lock - This option will keep this user's code synced to the selected Z-Wave lock(s). If the PIN is changed, the new PIN will be pushed to the designated lock(s) automatically. The code will have access to unlock the door, but doing so will not automatically disarm the alarm system.
  • Sync User Code to Lock & Disarm - This option will push the user code to the designated Z-Wave lock or locks, if the PIN Is changed, the information will be synced to the Z-Wave lock(s) automatically. In addition, when this code is used to unlock the door, it will also perform a disarm on the alarm system.

Once all changes have been made, be sure to press Save in the upper-right. You can then exit the user code screen by pressing the security icon in the lower-right of the screen, or by pressing the return arrow (<) in the upper-left side of the screen repeatedly until you are returned to the security screen.
