How Do I Change The Volume On A Qolsys IQ Panel 4?

To adjust the volume on the IQ Panel 4, tap the gray bar at the top of any panel screen. It's located above the time and date. This drops down a menu. On this menu you'll see sliders for volume and screen brightness. Slide the volume indicator left for lower volume, right for higher volume.

The setting shown above is a general volume setting. You can't control certain volume levels, such as those for an alarm. Also, there is another volume setting that allows you to control volume in a more granular way. It has options for voice volume, beep volume, tutorial video volume and more. We'll go over those options and how to reach them below. Some of the options you'll see depend on what equipment you have associated with your panel. Be sure you're on the latest firmware version to access all available settings. The images shown here are from a panel on firmware version 4.4.2, which is the current released firmware.

To Access More Detailed Volume Settings, Follow These Steps:

  1. Access volume settings. Tap the gray bar at the top of any screen, located above the date and time. From the dropdown menu, tap Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 by default, respectively) > Sounds > Volume.

  2. Set individual volume levels. In the screenshot below, you can see the volume settings options. We'll go through each of these in further detail below the screenshot. Think of this like an equalizer with the volume setting mentioned in paragraph one above as the master or system volume.

    • Voices Volume: This controls the volume for all voice announcements related to arming, disarming, and chime. Available options are 0 - 15. As you adjust the volume, the panel will speak "Voice Volume" with each increment or decrement so you can hear each setting to determine the one that suits you best. A setting of zero (0) disables the panel's voice prompts.
    • Beeps and Chime Volume. Beeps and chime volume pertain to all beeps that accompany arming, disarming, and chime sounds. The available numerical options for this adjustment are 0 - 7. As you adjust the setting up or down, the panel makes a chime sound so you can hear the volume level. A setting of zero (0) will disable all beep sounds.
    • Media Volume The help and tutorial videos constitute media on the IQ Panel 4. This setting will determine the volume when playing any of those videos. The options are 0 - 7. As you adjust the slider up and down, the panel will play a sound similar to a flute so that you can hear each level. A setting of zero (0) will mute all media sounds.
    • Doorbell Camera Chime Volume*. This option is only available if a compatible doorbell camera is integrated with the system and it is enabled for doorbell sounds. The options for this sound are 0 - 15. Selecting zero (0) will mute doorbell sounds.
      • Compatible Cameras: ADC-VDB750, ADC-VDB770, ADC-VDB780B, ADC-VDB101/102/105/106/105x/106x.
      • Requirements: A plan with support for at least one (1) Alarm.com video doorbell. Panel firmware 4.4.0+. Panel and doorbell must both be connected to the same WIFI network on the same band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). A minimum normalized signal strength of 66%. A router that supports multicast broadcasts (used for notifications).
      • Enable doorbell notifications. Through the customer website (not the app) go to Video > Settings > Select the doorbell camera from the dropdown list of available cameras (toward the top left) > Video Device Info > Click to enable "Send Motion Notifications to Panel" and/or "Send Button Pushed Notifications to Panel" > Save.

*Important Note: We've found recently that the doorbell chime volume is not being controlled by the appropriate doorbell chime slider. Instead, the Beeps and Chimes slider appears to be controlling this volume setting. We've confirmed this with Alarm.com CORE technical support and they say they have reported it to engineering. Hopefully, a fix is in the works.
