How Do I Manually Extend the Exit Delay Time for a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus?

You can manually extend the Exit Delay time for a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus by clicking the green +60 button on the screen during the Exit Delay countdown. This increases the countdown timer by 60 seconds. This can only be done once per arming period. No further timer extensions can be made.

When you set your IQ Panel 2 System to Arm Away, an Exit Delay countdown will begin. Once the countdown timer expires, the system will officially be in Armed Away mode. The purpose of this exit period is to allow you to leave the premises once the system has been armed. The purpose of the exit delay sounder is to let any other building occupants know that the building needs to be vacated as soon as possible to avoid setting off any interior sensors while the system is armed. This is an important false alarm prevention feature that helps end users operate their systems responsibly. Unless you disable Exit Delay sounds for the IQ Panel 2, the system will make continuous beeps during the countdown period.

But there may be instances where you want to extend the Exit Delay timer. An example could be if you forgot something inside so you needed to go back in your house, and you didn't want to be caught inside when the timer expires. By clicking the green +60 button, you can extend the countdown by 60 seconds to give yourself more time. Keep in mind though that you can only do this once per arming session. If you need to extend the time again, you will need to cancel the arming session by clicking the red X button. Then you must arm your system again once you are ready.

It is also important to note that the countdown can only be extended by 60 seconds. There are no options for smaller extensions or longer extensions. The 60 second extension even applies if the set standard Exit Delay is less than 60 seconds. For example, if your regular Exit Delay is only 45 seconds, you will still get that same 60 second extension button. And once you hit that green +60 button, that's all you get. Pressing it again will do absolutely nothing. Also, there is no way to "undo" or cancel the extension. Once it is applied, either the timer will eventually run out and the system will be Armed, or someone will press the red X before the countdown expires to cancel the arming session.

Complete the following steps to manually extend the Exit Delay countdown timer on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus by 60 seconds:

1. Arm Away. From the main screen of the IQ Panel 2, click the green "System Disarmed" button. If you have partitions enabled, then the button will read "Partition Disarmed". Choose the red button for "Arm Away". The system will then begin Arming, and the Exit Delay countdown timer will be initiated. Depending on your system settings, you may be required to enter a code first before the system will Arm.

2. Click the +60 Button. Click on the green +60 button. You must do this before the Exit Delay period expires. The countdown timer will be extended by 60 seconds. You can confirm by verifying the countdown timer displayed on the screen. Remember that this can only be done once per arming session..

3. Cancel or Exit Building. Now that you have extended the timer by 60 seconds, you have two (2) options. The first option is to leave the building to avoid setting off a false alarm. Make sure everyone else leaves the building as well. The other option, if you were just testing the feature, or you decided 60 additional seconds wasn't long enough, then you can cancel the arming session by clicking the red X button. Again, you can only cancel the arming session before the countdown expires. Once the system is armed, you would need to press the Disarm button, and enter a valid code.
