Description
With its support for the robust PowerG Sensors and its ability to access the ultra-fast and reliable Verizon LTE Network, the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus represents the ultimate wireless all-in-one (AIO) system for alarm monitoring. The functionality provided from this panel is simply astounding.
We've always been impressed with the original IQ Panel 2. But now, the IQ Panel 2 Plus has taken this to the next level. Arguably the biggest addition is the system's compatibility with the top-of-the-line PowerG Wireless Sensors. PowerG Sensors are, to put it simply, remarkable. In open air, these wireless devices achieve a maximum range of 2,000 feet away from the panel. Users will have no problem using PowerG Sensors on separate areas of the property or on very large business complexes. PowerG Sensors also utilize full 128-bit AES encryption to protect against any wireless takeovers or hacking attempts. This makes them truly some of the most secure wireless sensors in the entire industry.
In addition to PowerG support, the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus provides support for a set of legacy wireless sensors. This version of the system supports the 319 MHz wireless sensors from Qolsys and Interlogix/GE, including the encrypted Qolsys S-Line Sensors. Since this is a completely different frequency than the 915 MHz frequency used by PowerG Sensors, users won't have to worry about any interference between different types of wireless sensors. Please note that there are also versions of the IQ Panel 2 Plus that will support 345 MHz Sensors or 433 MHz Sensors instead of 319.5 MHz Sensors. Up to 128 wireless zones are available for supporting PowerG and 319.5 MHz sensors.
Qolsys has also made great strides to improve the world of video surveillance with the IQ Panel 2 Plus. With this system, users can get a live view of their Alarm.com Security Cameras directly from the panel's HD display screen. Cameras that support two-way audio will also allow the user to have a real-time conversation with anyone in front of the camera. And Qolsys has made the IQ Panel 2 Plus compatible with the SkyBell Video Doorbell so that users can see who is at the door by simply checking the panel. This is also possible through the Alarm.com Mobile App on any Android or iOS device.
Speaking of Alarm.com, the IQ Panel 2 Plus retains full functionality with the convenient interactive service. A user can access Alarm.com at any time to arm and disarm their system, check the current status of security sensors, control Z-Wave Smart Home devices and view the live feed of any security cameras. And of course, the Alarm.com Mobile App for Android and iOS devices allows all of these actions to be performed remotely.
The IQ Panel 2 Plus comes equipped with both a WIFI card and an LTE cellular communicator for achieving a fast and dependable dual-path communication setup. If the internet ever goes down or the power is out, the system will automatically switch over to its cellular backup. This version of the system connects with the Verizon LTE network. An AT&T LTE version of this system is also available if that network works better in the user's area.
Other features for the IQ Panel 2 Plus include an installation wizard for easy setup, a built-in 5MP camera that captures images upon system disarming, an integrated glass break sensor and a built-in Z-Wave Plus controller for supporting up to 232 Z-Wave or Z-Wave Plus devices. Overall, this is perhaps the finest alarm system available today. It will provide excellent functionality in virtually any home or business. We strongly recommend it for anyone looking to get into the exciting world of alarm monitoring.
Note: The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus has a smaller antenna than the DSC PowerSeries Neo Panels. As a result, it can only support DSC PowerG 915 MHz Sensors from a maximum distance of 2,000 feet away in open air. This is considerably shorter than that maximum open air range of 2 kilometers when these sensors are used with a DSC PowerSeries Neo System. Please keep this in mind when planning a security system. If you need to extend the range, a wireless repeater can be used.
Note: Firmware update 2.3.0 or higher is required to use the PowerG Image Sensor with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. The PowerG Image Sensor will store 10 images locally on the IQ Panel 2 Plus when activated. It will also send a single image to Alarm.com for remote viewing. No additional hardware is needed to use the PowerG Image Sensor, just the firmware update. Qolsys also offers their own Alarm.com Image Sensor. Both the PowerG Image Sensor and the Qolsys Image Sensor can be purchased separately. In order to use the Qolsys Image Sensor, a user will also need the appropriate image sensor daughtercard. This image sensor daughtercard uses the same antenna slot as the PowerG daughtercard. As a result, it is not feasible to use both PowerG Sensors and Qolsys Image Sensors on an IQ Panel 2 System at the same time. Any user who wants to use PowerG Sensors should obtain a PowerG Image Sensor instead of a Qolsys Image Sensor. If a user does not want to use PowerG Sensors, they are better off getting an original IQ Panel 2. There's no reason to pay extra for PowerG compatibility if the PowerG daughtercard is just going to be removed. Keep in mind though that the original IQ Panel 2 will only be able to support 319.5 MHz sensors.
Note: The IQ Panel 2 Plus supports up to 152 total Z-Wave devices for local Z-Wave control. There is also a smaller limit for different types of Z-Wave devices. The individual limit for each Z-Wave device type must be manually increased within Installer/Dealer Level Programming. Please also note that Alarm.com has its own smaller limit of 122 total Z-Wave devices for remote operation and use with smart scenes. More information on Alarm.com Z-Wave limits can be found in this FAQ.
The breakdown for the maximum allowed of each device type for local control, is shown in the table below. If you want more information on adjusting IQ2+ Z-Wave device limits, please check this other FAQ.
