How Do I Pair the Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave Thermostat With a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus?

You can pair the Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave Thermostat with a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus by putting the system into its Z-Wave enrollment mode and then activating the inclusion function on the T6 Pro Z-Wave Thermostat. You should clear the device before attempting to add it to the Z-Wave network.

Please note that you can only pair a Z-Wave version of the T6 with the IQ Panel 2 Plus. You cannot pair a WIFI T6 Thermostat with the IQ Panel 2 Plus. It must be the Z-Wave Version. You can use any version of the IQ Panel 2 Plus for this application. All versions of the IQ Panel 2 Plus (319.5 MHz, 345 MHz, and 433 MHz) include a built-in Z-Wave Plus controller for adding Z-Wave smart home devices. You can even use an original IQ Panel 2 System. The original IQ2 follows the exact same process. For the purpose of this FAQ, we will refer to the system as the IQ Panel 2 Plus.

Note: If you pair the T6 Thermostat with a system that uses an interactive automation platform like TC2 or ADC, then you will no longer be able to set permanent holds locally at the thermostat.

Complete the following steps to pair the Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave Thermostat with a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus:

1. Enter Z-Wave exclusion mode. Start from the main screen of the IQ Panel 2 Plus. Press the small grey bar at the top of the screen. Choose Settings > Advanced Settings > enter Installer Code (default 1111) > Installation > Devices > Z-Wave Devices > Clear Device. The system will enter its Z-Wave exclusion mode. You will need to have the system plugged into a wall outlet at this time.

2. Clear the device. Go to your T6 Thermostat. Choose Menu > scroll to Z-Wave Setup > Select > Select again. You may need to have the T6 Thermostat in close proximity to the IQ Panel 2 Plus System for this command to go through. The IQ Panel 2 Plus should display a message stating that a device has been cleared from the network. Press OK to continue. You might get a message on the T6 saying that the device "failed to include". This is normal. Press the Select button on the T6 to continue.

3. Enter Z-Wave inclusion mode. From the Z-Wave Menu on the IQ Panel 2 Plus, choose "Add Device". Press the "Include" button at the bottom. The system will enter its Z-Wave inclusion mode.

4. Enroll the device. Follow the same process on the T6 Thermostat that you used when clearing the device. That is, Menu > scroll to Z-Wave Setup > Select > Select a 2nd time. Remember, the T6 may need to be in close proximity to the system when doing this. You should see a message on the T6 Thermostat that says "Include" and a 2-digit node number.

The IQ Panel 2 Plus should give you a prompt with that same 2-digit node number. The Type should be "Thermostat". You can also change the name for the device if you want. Press the "Add" button at the bottom of the Qolsys screen. This will add the device to the Z-Wave network. You can then press the home button at the bottom of the IQ Panel 2 Plus. Do not press the "Include" button again on the IQ2+. That will just put the panel back into its inclusion mode. The T6 Thermostat will show the node number for a few seconds then return to the main screen.
