How Do I Program a Wireless Sensor on my Honeywell LYNX Touch?
You can program a wireless sensor on your Honeywell LYNX Touch through the zone programming menu of the panel. You will also be able to adjust any desired settings for your sensors from this menu. The Honeywell LYNX Touch panels are compatible with any Honeywell 5800 Series wireless device.
Complete the following steps to program a wireless sensor on a Honeywell LYNX Touch:
1. Access installer programming. From the home screen on the LYNX panel, go to Security > More > Tools > enter the installer code (the default code is 4112) > Program. You will now be at the programming menu for your system.
2. Access zone programming. Click on “Zones” on the left side of the screen. All of the wireless zones for your system can be accessed through this sub-menu. By clicking "Add New" at the bottom of the screen, you'll be taken to the edit screen of the next available zone.
3. Adjust the zone programming. All of the available programming for the sensor will be displayed on this menu. The table below explains the different entry fields:
Field Name |
Programming Options |
Serial Number |
Click this field to program the device's serial number. This puts the system into sensor learn mode. Fault and restore the sensor three times to learn its serial number into the system. The LYNX will back out to the zone edit screen menu and display the serial number and loop number learned. |
Loop Number |
Check the installation manual for the sensor to verify which loop should be used. Enter it here, if the correct loop wasn't learned during the previous step |
Zone Description 1 & 2 |
These fields are used to name your sensor. |
Device Type |
This will determine which response types are available for the zone. The selected device type will also be added as part of the voice descriptor for the zone. For example, if “Door” is selected, and Zone Descriptor 1 is programmed as "Front", the system will speak “Front Door”. |
Response Type |
This will set how the sensor responds when activated. For example, when selecting “Perimeter”, the sensor will be armed, with no entry or exit delay whether armed in stay or away mode. |
Alarm Report |
With this enabled, the system will send alarm signals from the sensor to central station |
Chime |
Chime has the system sound a tone, and if Voice is enabled speak the descriptor, when the sensor faults in the disarmed state. Interior zone types do not offer the chime option. |
Supervision |
It’s recommended to use supervision with wireless sensors. This has the system go into trouble if it isn’t able to communicate with the sensor after a certain amount of time. |
4. Return to the main screen. After making the desired programming changes, click “Save” in the bottom right corner. Click the return arrow in the top right corner until you have returned to the main screen. Make sure to choose "Yes" when it prompted, "Allow Installer to Re-Enter Program?"
The video below will show you how to program a 5816 to an L7000 Lynx Touch panel.
