How Do I Turn Down the Volume on a PROA7 or PROA7PLUS?
Turn down the volume on a PROA7 or PROA7PLUS by touching the grey tab atop the home screen. This opens the display and audio settings menu. From here you can adjust the volume slider to the desired position. This affects voice, chimes, and alerts. Alarm sounds are fixed, and not adjustable.
Resideo's PRO Series alarm panels include the Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS, Resideo PROA7PLUSC, Honeywell Home PROA7, and the Resideo PROA7C. The difference between the Honeywell Home vs the Resideo panels is just the labeling on the front. The biggest difference between the PLUS and Non-PLUS versions is that the PLUS versions come with built-in WIFI and Z-Wave. The non-PLUS versions require an extra module to add those features. We also dig further into other differences between these two variations in this article.
It is very important to note, that when referring to the volume we are only speaking of instances where the panel uses a voice to speak to you, a chime beeping, or alerts from the panel. For voice, the panel is capable of providing voice status and voice chime. Voice status refers to armed and disarmed announcements. Voice chime refers to speaking the descriptor when a particular sensor is opened, such as Front Door. This volume control does not affect alarm sounds. The volume will always go the preset level during a burglary, fire, carbon monoxide, audible panic, and during two-way voice sessions.
To turn down the volume on a PROA7 or PROA7PLUS, follow the steps below.
1. Navigate to the Security Screen. After (5) minutes of inactivity, the screen will go to a black inactivity screen that only shows the time and date, current weather, first Z-Wave thermostat temperature, if included, partition armed status, and the panic icons. It also shows the Cell (if installed), Wi-Fi (if installed), AC, and Bluetooth status at the top right. Touch the screen to open up to the security screen.
2. Touch the Display and Audio Settings tab. From the 'Security' screen, touch the grey tab, at the top middle of the screen.
3. Turn down the volume. Adjust the 'Volume' slider to the left to turn down the volume.
The Display and Audio Settings provide many other options and features of the PROA7 and PROA7PLUS. At the top, it will provide Cell Signal (if installed), Wi-Fi, AC, and Bluetooth status. Below that, you have a backlight timeout option. This determines at what point the screen will timeout to a completely black screen after inactivity. Options are Disabled, 30 Seconds, 2,10, or 30 Minutes.
Next, there are Voice, Chime, and Alexa Microphone (if enabled) toggles. The Voice turns on/off any voice status or voice chime. Disabling Chime will turn off all chime sounds, including voice chime. There is also an option to turn the mic OFF or ON for Alexa features.
To the right, in addition to the Volume slider, you have a screen brightness slider. Below the Volume slider there is a 'Clean Screen' option that disables the touchscreen controls for (30) seconds. This allows you to wipe off the touchscreen with a mild soap solution or a soft cloth. Do not use any liquid sprays or ammonia-based cleaners on the panel's touchscreen. When finished with settings, select the 'X' at the top right corner. These same steps can be used to control the volume and other settings on the Honeywell Home PROWLTOUCH and Resideo PROWLTOUCHC secondary touchscreen keypads.
