How Does A 2GIG GC3 Communicate With Alarm.com?
The 2GIG GC3 has a built in WIFI module, however 2GIG does not support internet and WIFI as primary monitoring at this time. There are future plans to implement primary monitoring via WIFI and the 2GIG GC3 panel will only need a firmware update to be compatible.
The 2GIG GC3 requires a cell communicator to communicate with Alarm.com. The compatible 2GIG GC3 cell communicators are the 2GIG-CDMAV-A-GC3, Verizon, the 2GIG-3GA-A-GC3, AT&T, and the 2GIG-3GR-A-GC3, Rogers (Canada).
Once the cell communicator is installed, registered and activated (only dealers are able to register and activate a 2GIG GC3 cell communicator) the alarm system can now communicate with Alarm.com and a central monitoring station.
Once a connected protective device is triggered, it sends a signal to the GC3 panel > the GC3 panel’s cell communicator will transmit the signal / signals to Alarm.com servers > Alarm.com servers disburse the signals to a central monitoring station and to a users Alarm.com account, if they have one.
Users who have an Alarm.com account can remotely control a 2GIG or GE alarm system, Home Automation and Video Surveillance from any computer, Android or iOS device. Users can receive notifications on any alarm signal or event by text message and or email. Users can also set up a “geo fence” with an Alarm.com account. Geo Fencing integrates with automation control. For example, a user can create a geo-fence around their property. When all associated smart devices leave this area, they can automatically set their thermostat to an energy-saving setting, when any associated smart device returns to this area, they can then set the thermostat back to a comfortable temperature. Alarm.com offers many features, which require a monthly subscription.
