How Loud is the Z-Wave IQ Siren for the Qolsys IQ Panel 2?
The Z-Wave IQ Siren for the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 is rated at 105 dB. This is about as loud as a motorcycle passing directly by. This is a major increase over the system's internal siren, which is only rated at 85 dB. This is the easiest way to upgrade the siren on the IQ Panel 2 System.
The IQ Siren is a plug-in device that can be learned in with the IQ Panel 2 like any other Z-Wave device. It features a three light strobe to provide a visual display for any alarm events. It also includes a backup battery so that the device will function even if electricity is lost. The siren will go into effect whenever an alarm occurs on the system, as long as it is not disabled from within programming.
Before attempting to enroll the IQ Siren, you should first clear it from the Z-Wave network. This is because the device may have been previously enrolled with a Z-Wave network for testing purposes before leaving the factory. Activate the exclusion function on the panel, and then press the inclusion button on the bottom of the Z-Wave siren. The panel should then display a message stating that the device has been cleared from the network. Make sure that the siren is plugged-in when doing this. The panel may need to be close to the device in order for the command to go through.
With the device cleared, it can then be paired with the network. Put the panel into its inclusion mode, and press the inclusion button on the bottom of the IQ Siren. You may need to bring the panel close to the siren for the command to be successful. Also, make sure that the siren is plugged-in when doing this. The panel should then recognize the device as an external siren. The settings for the device can then be configured as needed. This includes providing a name for the Z-Wave siren.
Note: The IQ Siren will not produce a Temporal 3 sound for fire alarms or a Temporal 4 sound for CO alarms. It produces the same constant alarm tone regardless of the alarm type that has occurred.
