How many wireless transmitters can a VISTA-20P support?
A Honeywell VISTA-20P can support up to (40) wireless transmitters as long as you have upgraded your VISTA-20P with a wireless receiver. In addition, it has sixteen (16) dedicated key fob zones (49-64). This actually gives you a grand total of 56 expanded wireless zones. There are a few different wireless receivers that are compatible with the VISTA-20P and each of them will provide support for a different number of wireless transmitters. The 5881ENL wireless receiver will provide the VISTA-20P with support for up to (8) wireless transmitters. The 5881ENM wireless receiver will provide support for up to (16) wireless transmitters and the 5881ENH wireless receiver will support up to the panel maximum. You can only add (1) wireless receiver to a VISTA-20P so make sure to choose one that will support future system expansion. If you go with the 5881ENL today because you are adding (6) new 5811 wireless door and window transmitters, but then you decide later that you want to add (4) new 5808W3 wireless smoke and heat detectors, you will need to buy a new wireless receiver (5881ENM or 5881ENH) as the 5881ENL would no longer provide the proper support.
The Honeywell 6150RF and 6160RF keypads are also a good option for adding wireless transmitter support to a VISTA-20P security system. The 6150RF is a fixed English keypad that has a 5881ENM 16-zone wireless receiver built into the keypad. The 6160RF is an alphanumeric alarm keypad that has a 5881ENH wireless receiver built in that will provide support up to (56) wireless transmitters.
Please note that if you add wireless key fobs to your VISTA-20P, every programmed button on the key fob will reduce the number of wireless transmitters supported by your VISTA-20P. As each button on the security key fob is programmed as a separate wireless zone, you need to be careful when counting your total number of wireless transmitters to make sure that you don't go over the maximum number supported. Also, any wireless transmitter that uses multiple wireless zones will also reduce the overall number of wireless transmitters you can use. Most wireless transmitters just use (1) wireless zone, but make sure to look at the installation guide for the wireless transmitters you are planning to purchase so you can get an accurate count of wireless zones needed.
Please call Alarm Grid at 888-818-7728 if you want to verify that your VISTA-20P will support the wireless transmitters that you plan to add.
