If Installing A GSMX4G Radio, Do I Need A Phone Line?
No, a landline is not required when installing a Honeywell GSMX4G cell communicator.
A GSMX4G is a wireless cell communicator that acts like a personal cell phone for the alarm control panel. The GSMX4G is compatible with the Honeywell Vista series control panels and the Lynx Plus control panel.
The GSMX4G cell communicator transmits signals to Honeywell's AlarmNet control center via a gsm cellular network (AT&T). AlarmNet routes signals received to a central monitoring station.
The GSMX4G is backwards compatible with 2G and 3G service. This feature is known as IntelliPath and allows the communicator to choose the fastest available cellular service offered in the area.
The GSMX4G provides full contact ID reporting using ECP mode with a Vista control panel. The primary communication is on 4G.
Users can upload / download Honeywell control panels via ECP only.
The GSMX4G is powered directly off the alarm control panel's ECP terminals and no transformer is required.
Users can opt to install a GSMX4G and also connect a landline for dual communication. The GSMX4G can be programmed as the primary path of communication or as the backup to a landline.
A cell communicator provides the most secure path of communication for alarm systems. No worry of wires being cut to prevent signals sent.
A lot of users are giving up landlines and installing a gsm cell communicator is a cost effective solution.
The GSMX4G provides the capability of connecting to Total Connect 2.0 remote services.
Total Connect 2.0 allows users to control the alarm system, home automation and video surveillance remotely from any computer, smartphone or ios device. Users will receive notifications via email and or text message on any real time alarm signal or event.
