Is a DSC PowerG Carbon Monoxide Detector Compatible w/ the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus?
Yes, a DSC PowerG Carbon Monoxide Detector is compatible with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. All versions of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus (319.5 MHz, 345 MHz, and 433 MHz) can readily support PowerG Sensors. As of April 2020, PowerG CO Detectors include the DSC PG9913 and the DSC PG9933.
A carbon monoxide sensor will alert a security system upon detecting carbon monoxide (CO) gas. This gas is extremely dangerous and lethal to humans, and it can wreak havoc in a very short period of time. As such, CO detectors are consider life-safety sensors. The gas causes hundreds of deaths every year in the United States, as people often fail to detect the odorless and tasteless gas in time. That is why CO detectors are so important. It is recommended that CO detectors are installed on every security system and that you have at least one (1) CO detector on each floor of your home or business.
On the IQ Panel 2 Plus, carbon monoxide sensors are typically assigned Sensor Group 34 for Carbon Monoxide. When a sensor assigned Sensor Group 34 is activated, the system (if monitored) will send an alert the the Alarm.com servers. Alarm.com will then forward the alert to the end user (via text and/or email) and/or to a central station, depending on the user's alarm monitoring plan. By law, most jurisdictions require that a central station operator responding to any incoming carbon monoxide alarm to request emergency dispatch to the location as soon as possible.
Like all PowerG Sensors, many users choose PowerG Carbon Monoxide Detectors because of the excellent features and capabilities that these sensors offer. A PowerG CO Detector can be used from up to 2,000 feet away from a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus System when used in an open air environment. PowerG CO Detectors also utilize 128-bit AES encryption and Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum Technology. This makes the sensors virtually impossible for others to maliciously hack or take over these sensors.
