Description
The DSC PG9913 Carbon Monoxide Detector is highly effective in monitoring a home or a business for the presence of lethal CO gas. An outbreak of carbon monoxide can occur at any time due to a faulty appliance or other factors. Monitoring for this gas can be life-saving in some situations.
The PG9913 uses electrochemical sensing technology in its CO detection. This technology allows the PG9913 to detect CO gas very accurately, and alert the system before dangerous levels of the gas are present. The device provides both audible and visual indication of a CO alarm. It has a built-in 95 dB sounder, which is plenty loud enough for alerting on-site occupants to the presence of gas. The large flashing LED light can also alert people to the situation. With this technology, the PG9913 could be used as a stand-alone carbon monoxide detector that is not programmed to an alarm system.
However, we recommend enrolling the device with a compatible system. That way, it can send an alert to the system in the event of an emergency. This is the only way that the user can receive automatic emergency rescue dispatch in the event of a CO outbreak. It also allows a user to receive text and/or email alerts about the activation of a CO detector. This can be very important if a user is off-site when the outbreak of CO gas occurs. That way, they will know not to return to the location until the situation is dealt with properly.
As a PowerG Sensor, the PG9913 offers some excellent functionality. It can work from up to 2 km from an alarm system if a clear line of sight is obtained. The device also uses 128-bit AES encryption to prevent it from being hacked or taken over. The PG9913 will work with any PowerG-compatible Alarm System, such as any DSC PowerSeries Neo System and any Qolsys IQ Panel 2 with an installed PowerG daughtercard.
NOTE: The maximum range for a PowerG Sensor when used with an IQ Panel 2 Plus System is only 2,000 feet in open air. This is considerably less than the advertised 2km range. The 2km range refers to when a PowerG Sensor is used with a DSC PowerSeries NEO System.
