Qolsys IQ Panel 2 vs 2GIG GC2 (Go!Control)

The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 and the 2GIG GC2 (Go!Control) are both wireless security systems that will work well in most security setups. Both panels offer similar capabilities. However, the IQ Panel 2 is the newer system, and it is technologically superior in virtually every possible aspect.

In terms of functionality, the 2GIG GC2 can do almost anything that the IQ Panel 2 can. Both systems can utilize a dual-path communication setup that includes WIFI and cellular connectivity. However, GC2 owners will need to purchase their cellular communicator separately. Both are also capable of connecting with the Alarm.com interactive service and controlling Z-Wave home automation devices.

The biggest difference between the two systems is that the IQ Panel 2 uses Qolsys security sensors that operate at a frequency of 319.5 MHz, while the GC2 interfaces with 2GIG and Honeywell 5800 Series security sensors that operate at a frequency of 345 MHz. The IQ Panel 2 can connect with the encrypted S-Line series of security sensors, while there are no compatible encrypted sensors for the GC2.

The IQ Panel 2 also offers a greater number of wireless zones and programmable user codes than the GC2. Additionally, the IQ Panel 2 includes a built-in camera, while the GC2 does not. Finally, the IQ Panel 2 is considerably sleeker, and it features a larger LCD touchscreen display.
