What Software Version of the Lyric Alarm System Supports LTE?

The software version of the Lyric Alarm System that supports LTE is Firmware Version V01.03.06548.482 (MR3) or higher for the Honeywell LYRICLTE-A AT&T LTE Communicator, and Firmware Version V01.09.07745.491 (MR9) or higher for the Honeywell LYRICLTE-V Verizon LTE Communicator.

The Lyric uses an optional cellular communicator for communicating with the AlarmNet servers. This is necessary for setting up alarm monitoring services with the system and using Total Connect 2.0. The only other way that the Lyric System can communicate with AlarmNet is by using its built-in WIFI card for IP communication. The advantage of adding a cellular communicator to the Lyric Panel is that cellular communication is more reliable than IP communication. If you use a Lyric with IP-only service, then an internet outage will take your panel offline and leave you unmonitored until the internet is restored. Conversely, cellular communication is much more reliable and almost never goes offline.

If you decide that you want to use cellular communication with your Lyric System, then it is strongly advised that you purchase an LTE communicator. As of mid-2020, LTE remains the best available cellular communication path for security systems. It is faster and more reliable than any of its predecessors, making it perfect for alarm monitoring. In addition, the term LTE stands for "Long-Term Evolution", and it highlights how cellular service providers are planning to maintain support for their LTE networks well into the very distant future. These LTE networks will remain up and running, even as future 5G cellular networks inevitably become available. In other words, you will be able to keep your system communicating properly, without needing to make a communicator upgrade any time soon.

For the Lyric, there are two (2) LTE communicators available. The Honeywell LYRICLTE-A connects with the AT&T LTE Network, and it requires Firmware Version MR3 or higher. The Honeywell LYRICLTE-V connects with the Verizon LTE Network, and it requires Firmware Version MR9 or higher.
