What To Do If A Qolsys IQ Panel 4 Keypad Is Too Bright?
The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 allows the user to dim or brighten the touchscreen. This option is available by pressing the gray bar at the top of the screen, located above the date and time. When you tap the gray bar, a menu drops down with a slider to adjust the panel volume and screen brightness.
Below you can see the dropdown screen presented after you tap the gray bar above the panel time. Sliding the brightness bar to the left decreases brightness. Sliding it to the right increases brightness.
In addition to the user's ability to manually control the screen's brightness, the IQ Panel 4 offers an option called Nighttime Mode. In this mode, the panel can automatically turn off the touchscreen, the LEDs, the panel's non-emergency voice announcements, and the chimes. In the event of an alarm, the panel screen will automatically wake up and all normal sounds will be heard. If the user touches the screen during Nighttime Mode, it will also wake up.
By default, Nighttime Mode is set to begin at 11:00 pm and end at 6:00 am. You can edit the start and end times by tapping "Photo Frame", as seen in the image above, and then tapping "Settings" as seen in the image below, taken from page 160 of the IQ Panel 4 Install Guide (Version 4.4.0):
To edit the Nighttime Mode settings, follow these steps:
- Access settings. As indicated above, tap the gray bar at the top of any panel screen. The gray bar is located just above the panel's date and time. In the dropdown screen, tap "Photo Frame" then tap "Settings".
-
Set Nighttime Mode Start Time. Scroll down the list of settings until you see "Nighttime Mode Start Time". Tap this option. A clock will pop up. Set the time at which you want the Nighttime Mode settings to take effect each day. Then tap "OK".
-
Set Nighttime Mode End Time. Below the start time, tap the option for "Nighttime Mode End Time". Again, a clock will be displayed. Set the time at which you want the Nighttime Mode settings to end each day. Once you have the correct time, tap "OK".
-
Set Nighttime Mode Settings. In Nighttime Mode Settings, you will select which features you want to suppress during Nighttime Mode. You can choose Display, Voice, Chime, and if you scroll down, LEDs. You can choose any or all of these options. Once you have made your selection or selections, press "OK" to save your settings. The next time your panel enters the Nighttime Mode Start Time, it will behave as you selected until the Nighttime Mode End Time rolls around.
