Will Alarm.Com Work on a Lyric Gateway?

Alarm.com will not work on a Lyric Gateway. The Lyric Gateway is a Honeywell Security System. Honeywell Alarm Panels are used with the Total Connect 2.0 platform instead of Alarm.com. There is no way to integrate a Honeywell Lyric Gateway Security System with the Alarm.com service.

Alarm.com is a comprehensive alarm and home automation monitoring suite. Using Alarm.com a user has multiple remote access options. The system can be armed and disarmed, individual sensor status can be viewed, home automation devices can be programmed into scenes and controlled. Alarm.com is also partnering with a robust and growing number of 3rd party companies. Some notable devices Alarm.com is compatible include. Nest Thermostats, Lutron Lighting devices and MyQ garage door devices.

Alarm.com is not compatible with the Lyric Gateway, LYNX Touch panels, the Lyric Controller and most other Honeywell panels. The only Honeywell Alarm System that Alarm.com can currently interface with is a wired Vista 15P/20P series panel, manufactured in 2005 or later. To do this, a user would need to install a device called the SEM to their Vista panel. As Alarm.com service requires a cellular connection, the SEM is manufactured with a built in cellular communicator, as well as a Z-Wave Controller. The SEM comes in two models, one that is compatible with the AT&T cellular network (3G/4G) and one that is compatible with the Verizon cellular network (4G LTE).

The SEM’s data wires (Yellow and Green) connect directly to the Vista panel’s keypad bus. The SEM gets its power from the panel’s backup battery, wired through the provided Red cable with in-line 10 Amp fuse, and has a common ground to panel terminal 4. After a user enables keypad address 23 and deletes all the user codes from the Vista (Alarm.com requires all codes are deleted on startup) the system will be ready to be associated with the Alarm.com service. Alternatively, all panel users can be deleted through Alarm.com after the SEM has been registered.

The Lyric Gateway is not compatible with Alarm.com, but it is fully compatible Total Connect 2.0. Total Connect 2.0 is Honeywell’s remote access program and offers similar features found on the Alarm.com platform. Total Connect 2.0 provides remote arm and disarming, control over mapped in Z-Wave devices and the ability to program scenes, users can be created and edited, notification can be sent to email addresses and phone numbers and certain 3rd party devices can be enrolled such as the SkyBellHD (Alarm.com has much more 3rd party compatibility).
