2GIG DW20e
Wireless Recessed Encrypted Door and Window Contact
Description
The 2GIG DW20e is a wireless recessed door and window contact for the 2GIG GC2e and 2GIG GC3e Alarm Systems. It uses encrypted communication to prevent any wireless hacking or takeover attempts. The recessed sensor will remain completely out of sight when the door or window is closed.
Anyone who is worried about wireless hacking or wireless takeovers can get great peace of mind from encrypted sensors like the 2GIG DW20e. Non-encrypted sensors are prone to attacks that can be conducted with relatively simple RF jamming equipment. If you want to take every step possible to ensure that your home or business is protected, make sure you get encrypted sensors and a system that can support them.
As a recessed sensor, the 2GIG DW20e will remain hidden whenever the door or window is closed. This is great for anyone looking to achieve an aesthetically pleasing installation. The one thing to keep in mind though is that you will need to drill holes in both the door or window, and the frame to complete the installation. If you would prefer not to drill holes, you might consider the 2GIG DW10e Surface-Mount Contact instead.
The sensor needs a hole in the door or window frame measuring 11/16 inches in diameter and 2.6 inches deep. Its accompanying magnet needs its own hole in the door or window that also measures 11/16 inches in diameter, but only 0.5 inches deep. Make sure the two holes align perfectly. You should be able to slide the sensor and magnet into their respective holes quite easily.
The 2GIG DW20e offers an impressive wireless range of 350 feet in an open air environment. But please keep in mind that obstacles like thick walls and large metal objects will greatly reduce this range. Wireless recessed contacts are not recommended for use with metal door or window frames. The sensor uses a single CR-2 battery for power. Battery condition will be supervised by the sensor and the alarm panel. When the battery requires replacement, the alarm panel will indicate a low battery on the accompanying zone number. The battery will need to be replaced every few years to keep the sensor operational.
Note: The Equipment Code used when programming the 2GIG DW20e is 2863.
