DSC PG9985
PowerG 915MHz Wireless Flood Detector
Description
The DSC PG9985 is a flood sensor designed for use with PowerG-compatible alarm systems. It senses the presence of water, and it can alert a system before serious flood damage occurs. This is done with a detection probe that is connected to the wireless transmitter using a 6 foot long wire.
To use the PG9985 most effectively, we recommend placing the probe in a location where a flood is most likely to occur. This could include in a basement, kitchen, bathroom or laundry room. It is also a good idea to place the probe underneath any water heaters that could potentially leak. Once the probe detects water, it will send a signal to the attached transmitter. From there, the transmitter will send a signal to the system to alert it of the potential flood. The system is also alerted if the probe is disconnected for any reason.
As a PowerG Sensor, the PG9985 offers some outstanding capabilities. The transmitter will function from a distance of up to 2 kilometers away from the system if a clear line of sight is obtained. The device also features 128-bit AES encryption to protect it against any hacking or takeover attempts.
NOTE: The maximum range for a PowerG Sensor when used with an IQ Panel 2 Plus System is only 2,000 feet in open air. This is considerably less than the advertised 2km range. The 2km range refers to when a PowerG Sensor is used with a DSC PowerSeries NEO System.
Note: This sensor does not have a delay when reporting to the panel. It sends a signal to the panel immediately upon the probes detecting a flood or a leak.
