Description

The Honeywell Home PROSIXC2W is a wired to wireless converter module for the PROA7PLUS, PROA7PLUSC, PROA7, and PROA7C. Wired sensors connect with the PROSIXC2W so that they can communicate with the PROA7PLUS wirelessly. Up to eight (8) zones can be set up using a single PROSIXC2W module.

Users who upgrade to a ProSeries Alarm Panel from an older hardwired alarm panel will often have existing wired sensors that they want to bring over to their new panel. The Honeywell Home PROSIXC2W makes it possible to integrate these existing sensors with the ProSeries System. This will allow the user to maintain their existing sensor setup and save money by not having to purchase wireless sensors. From the perspective of the ProSeries System, the system will view the wired sensors as wireless devices and allow them to enroll with wireless zones.

Since the existing wired sensors will all connect at the PROSIXC2W, it is often wise to install the converter module at the location of the old wired alarm panel. This way, you can simply undo the sensor wiring at the panel and then reconnect the sensors at the PROSIXC2W. You have eight (8) hardwired zones on the PROSIXC2W to work with. Each zone that is actively being used must be set up with an end-of-line resistor (EOLR) that values between 1K and 10K. The PROSIXC2W comes with eight (8) 2.2K resistors for this purpose. The resistors are color-coded Red-Red-Red-Gold. Please note that each zone used with a PROSIXC2W must be assigned to the same system partition on the PROA7PLUS. This means if you have hardwired zones to convert that will be used with separate partitions, each partition will need its own PROSIXC2W.

A calibration process must be performed after all of the zones have been properly wired so that the PROSIXC2W knows what resistor value to look for at each zone. Any zone that is left open without an EOLR will be unrecognized and not reported to the system. Please note that zone calibration data will be retained even if the PROSIXC2W loses both AC and battery power. You perform the calibration process by pressing the calibration button on the module. All zones being calibrated must be in their normal or closed position at this time. After pressing the button, LED #2 on the unit should flash red for a half-second, and then LED #3 will remain a steady green. You can then begin enrolling individual zones with the ProSeries System as wireless sensors. You must re-perform the calibration process if you make any changes to the connected sensors and/or end-of-line resistors used with the PROSIXC2W module.

Wired sensors that draw power for the PROSIXC2W are set up in a special manner. You can typically identify a wired sensor that draws power by the fact that it will use a 4-wire connection instead of a 2-wire connection. This is typically the case for motion detection sensors and glass break sensors. But only two (2) of the sensors set up with the PROSIXC2W can be connected to the auxiliary output on the module for receiving power. This is a limitation of the PROSIXC2W, so keep that in mind if you are trying to bring over multiple motion sensors and/or glass break sensors. You may need to get a second PROSIXC2W unit or add an external power supply to support all of your 4-wire devices. Each individual PROSIXC2W unit is capable of providing up to 12-Volts DC and 100mA of power for these devices. Please note that life-safety sensors like smoke detectors and carbon monoxide sensors cannot be used with the PROSIXC2W. Wired smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide zones are not supported.

The Honeywell Home PROSIXC2W gets its primary power from a plug-in 5VDC transformer. The transformer comes included with the PROSIXC2W, but you must supply your own wiring. Standard 2-conductor alarm wire works great for this job. The maximum wire run distance is 6 feet for 22 AWG wire, 10 feet for 20 AWG wire, and 16 feet for 18 AWG wire. You can alternatively use a Honeywell LT-Cable to provide power, which is a great option if you do not want to strip and prepare your own wire. Keep in mind that the Honeywell LT-Cable is 8-feet in length. Remember that polarity must be observed since DC power is being used. Red is for positive (+), and black is for negative (-).

A backup battery comes included with the PROSIXC2W to keep the unit running temporarily in the event of an electrical outage. This lithium ion battery is rated at 3.6VDC, 2480mAh, and it is listed as part number 300-10342 by Resideo. The battery plugs into a port on the PROSIXC2W board, and it is small enough to fit neatly into the PROSIXC2W enclosure. The ProSeries System will display a low-battery warning for the PROSIXC2W if the detected battery voltage drops below 3.6VDC. The minimum battery voltage needed to keep the PROSIXC2W online is 3.4VDC. If battery voltage drops below that threshold and AC power is lost, then the unit will power down entirely. The included backup battery is capable of keeping the PROSIXC2W running for at least 24 hours if there are no sensors drawing current from the auxiliary output. But the standby time is reduced to no less than four (4) hours if two (2) sensors are connected to the auxiliary output and drawing power.

The Honeywell Home PROSIXC2W uses tamper detection to let the system know if someone tries to open up the module. It also provides RF supervision so that the system will display a warning if the PROSIXC2W is powered down or taken out of signal range from the system. Mounting hardware for the PROSIXC2W comes included. The module can communicate with the ProSeries Alarm Panel from more than 300 feet away in an open air environment. All communications between the PROSIXC2W and the ProSeries Panel are sent using 128-bit AES encryption for enhanced wireless security. Various LED lights on the unit are used for troubleshooting and indicating current status. The unit measures 7"L x 4.5"W x 1.5"D.

Can this be used with the Honeywell Lyric?
Can this be used with a Honeywell Lyric?
Terry - The ProSixC2W does not support zone doubling. So the short answer here is no.
Do you know if this module will work with double end of line resistors installed. It looks like the existing devices in my current system have a resistor wired in series and a resistor wired in parallel
Hello Lukas, These links should answer your question. https://www.alarmgrid.com/blog/ever-wonder-why-they-re-called-end-of-line-resistors. Keep in mind that end of line resistors (EOLRs) must be used with any active zone on the PROSIXC2W Converter. The PROSIXC2W supports EOLR learning for resistor values ranging from 1k to 10k. As long as there are existing EOLRs within that value range already installed on the hardwired sensors being brought over, then there is no need to add any new resistors, or remove any existing ones. Remember that Normally Closed (NC) sensors will have EOLRs that are wired in Series, while Normally Open (NO) sensors will have EOLRs that are wired in Parallel. If you need to add a new resistor to any active zone, then you can use one of the eight (8) resistors included with the PROSIXC2W Converter. These resistors are rated at 2.2k ohms, color-coded Red-Red-Red-Gold. Inactive zones can be left open, without connecting a resistor. How are the EOL resistors wiredup for door contacts
yes you can
Can you use multiple units if more than 8 zones are needed?
