Description
The Honeywell L5000PK-5811 is a LYNX Touch wireless home security system that includes the L5000 LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel, (3) 5811 wireless thin door and window sensors, a 5800PIR-RES wireless pet immune motion detector and a 5834-4 wireless security key fob. The L5000PK-5811 wireless home security system is the same security system as the L5000PK wireless security system except that it uses the 5811 wireless sensors instead of the 5816 wireless sensors. The 5811 wireless thin door and window sensors have a much flatter profile so they are less noticeable and blend in better with your home’s decor.
The Honeywell LYNX Touch wireless home security system can be monitored in (3) different ways. You can connect an active telephone cord to the LYNX Touch wireless home security system to utilize your home phone or voice over internet protocol (VoIP) service for alarm monitoring. Phone line or VoIP alarm monitoring are the least expensive monitoring option but you must have the applicable service active in your home. If you only use cell phones and choose not to pay for a home phone line, you can install the AlarmNet ILP5 internet or GSMVLP5 cellular alarm communicator inside the LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel. The ILP5 internet alarm communicator would need a connection from your router to the Ethernet jack on the ILP5 to provide internet alarm monitoring. When using internet alarm monitoring, we suggest adding a uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to your modem and router so that your security system will still communicate with Alarm Grid’s central station during a power outage. Also keep in mind that your home’s phone and internet wiring is exposed on the outside of your house. Therefore, if an intruder cuts your phone or internet line before entering the property, no alarm signals will be received by the central station. To protect against this type of break-in, you should add the AlarmNet GSMVLP5 cellular alarm communicator. While this is the most expensive monitoring option, it doesn’t require any separate communication (phone or internet) so it can sometimes be the most economical option. Also, as it provides a wireless connection between your LYNX Touch wireless home security system and Alarm Grid’s central station, there is no risk of line tampering.
If you choose to purchase one of the AlarmNet alarm communicators, you can also sign up for the Total Connect 2.0 interactive service. Total Connect 2.0 allows you to remotely control your Honeywell LYNX Touch wireless home security system from any web browser or internet enabled smartphone. You can even download a free Total Connect 2.0 application with the iPhone®, iPad®, Blackberry® and Android™ devices so you can arm or disarm your wireless home security system from anywhere you have cell phone coverage. Another feature of Total Connect 2.0 is that the LYNX Touch wireless home security system can send out instant text message and/or email notifications based on any system event. You can use this feature to be notified every time the L5000 home security system is armed or disarmed. The Total Connect notification would show you whether the system was armed away, armed stay or disarmed. The notification would also include the (2) digit user code that was used to arm or disarm the system so you know exactly who is using your home security system. The Total Connect 2.0 service is not available with phone line or VoIP alarm monitoring.
The L5000 wireless home security system can provide home automation functionality using the Honeywell 5800ZBRIDGE. The Z-Wave® controller will control up to (4) Z-Wave light modules or thermostat modules. We recommend using the Honeywell ZWSTAT thermostat when using the LYNX Touch wireless home security system and a 5800ZBRIDGE home automation module. These Z-Wave devices will turn on when your L5000 wireless home security system is disarmed and will turn off when you disarm your home security system. You cannot remotely control the Z-Wave modules aside from arming and disarming your LYNX Touch home security system using the Total Connect 2.0 service. The new L5100 LYNX Touch home security system does incorporate full Z-Wave control through the Total Connect 2.0 service.
