Description
The Interlogix 60-511-01-95 is a rebranded DS924i wireless passive infrared (PIR) motion detector. The device features a 40 square foot coverage, and it can use seven different types of compatible add-on lenses. These different lenses allow the sensor to function in almost any type of environment. The lens can also be masked in order to restrict a portion of the detection area to avoid false alarms. Some possible applications for the sensor include monitoring display windows, long hallways, corridors and general purpose rooms in a home or small business. The sensor also features a pet-immunity setting so that small animals can walk freely past the sensor without causing a false alarm. Keep in mind that the term pet immune can be misleading. The motion should not be mounted within view of stairwells or tall furniture the pets can jump onto and defeat the pet friendly technology behind pet immunity.
A PIR motion detector works by scanning an environment for any infrared energy. If a person or a large object comes into view of the sensor, it will cause a substantial change in the detected infrared energy. If this occurs, the sensor will send a signal to the alarm system to let it know about a possible intrusion. The system will then perform the programmed response for that wireless zone. The DS924i features multiple sensitivity settings so that the device can fully meet the unique needs of the user. Please note that the pet-immunity function will only work with the lowest detection setting for the device.
For optimal performance, the sensor should not be installed in an area directly facing any windows, moving objects, fire places vents or air ducts. Placing the device towards any of these obstacles could potentially cause false alarms on the system. It should also be installed on a flat, sturdy surface that is free of any vibration. The sensor should ideally be placed within 100 feet of the alarm system, but it has been tested successfully from up to 1,000 feet away in open air. In order to achieve a maximum coverage area, the DS024i sensor should be mounted between five and eight feet off the ground. After installing the sensor, a walk test should be performed to ensure that the device is functioning properly.
The Interlogix DS924i operates at a wireless frequency of 319.5 MHz. This makes it compatible with any Interlogix Simon Alarm System, as well as any Qolsys Alarm System with the 319.5MHz daughtercard. The device also includes a tamper switch that will alert the system if anyone attempts to physically disable the device. The battery life for the DS924i Motion Sensor is roughly four to five years depending upon usage. The device will require a new AA lithium battery when it is time for replacement.
