Qolsys IQ Hardwire 8-S

The Qolsys IQ Hardwire 8-S is a 319.5 MHz wired to wireless converter that lets hardwired sensors work with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 and IQ Panel 2 Plus Systems. This module supports up to eight normally closed or normally open sensors, and it uses rolling code encryption for added security.

The main reason to use the Qolsys Hardwire 8-S is if you are upgrading to an IQ Panel 2 or IQ Panel 2 Plus from an older hardwired system. Normally, these systems can support just two normally closed wired sensors. But with the Hardwire 8-S, these panels will be able to support eight additional hardwired sensors of either the normally closed or normally open variety. If a user requires a larger number of sensors, they can use the IQ Hardwired 16-S, which will support up to 16 wired sensors. But please note that life-safety sensors should NOT be used with wired to wireless converters.

The IQ Hardwire 8-S also offers other great features add to its functionality and ease of use. With its end-of-line resistor learning, the end user will not have to worry about rewiring each resistor value when setting up the new sensors. The module includes an on-board relay to make it easier for the user to set up a hardwired siren with the system. A compatible backup battery can be purchased separately to allow the sensors to continue to communicate properly in the event of a power outage. The wiring for such a battery comes included with the IQ Hardwire 8-S. The module's tamper cover will alert the system with anyone tries to open up or disable the module in any way. And since the device communicates at 319.5 MHz, it can also be used as a wired to wireless converter for the Interlogix Panels.

Note: Do NOT attempt to use any hardwired life-safety sensors with the IQ Hardwire 8-S. This includes any smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

Note: Qolsys sensors operate at 319.5 MHz. They will not work with the 345 MHz and the 433 MHz versions of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. They are designed for the 319.5 MHz IQ Panel 2 Plus and other 319.5 MHz systems.
