Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus Vs. Qolsys IQ Panel 4
Qolsys continues to be a leader in the security space. Their very popular IQ Panel 2 is still widely used by many. Now, they have created the new IQ Panel 4. The IQ4 is like an IQ2, but on steroids. They have added nice features to the IQ4, especially with the speakers and optional IQ Base.
The IQ Panel 4 and the IQ Panel 2 have basically the same user interface. So far, Qolsys has kept the same menu options, so the transition from one panel to the other is nearly seamless. The IQ4 is more powerful, better sounding, and includes more up-to-date hardware. Although those few differences are noticeable, it does not mean you need to replace your operational IQ Panel 2. However, if you need a panel replacement, the IQ Panel 4 is the way to go.
The option to choose the panel in either black or white is new to the IQ Panel 4. The IQ4 still provides all the various legacy RF receiver options that were available in the IQ Panel 2 Plus. These include the 319.5 MHz (Qolsys/GE/Interlogix) flavor, 345 MHz (Honeywell/2gig) flavor, and 433 MHz (DSC) flavor. All three (3) panel flavors that offer legacy RF receivers also support the 915 MHz PowerG frequency sensors. There is also a PowerG-only IQ Panel 4 kit that does not offer legacy receiver support. The panel in this kit is only available in white and comes in either a Verizon or an AT&T version.
