Qolsys IQ Pro, AT&T LTE, DSC
PowerG Alarm Panel w/433 MHz Support in a Metal Enclosure
Description
The Qolsys IQ Pro combines features from the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 and the DSC PowerSeries NEO. The result is a complete security experience. It has dual SRF (this version supports both the DSC 433 MHz sensors and PowerG), hardwired, and addressable loop zones. It supports Ethernet or WIFI, LTE cellular, Bluetooth, and Z-Wave. All on the Alarm.com platform.
The IQ Pro supports up to 128 zones, 8 partitions, 1000 users, and 16 keypads. The keypads can be up to sixteen (16) hardwired, up to five (5) wireless or PowerG IQ remotes, and up to three (3) IQ Remote touchscreens. It can also support up to ten (10) PowerG PIR Cameras such as the PG9944 Outdoor Motion Camera, or the indoor PG9934P PIR Camera. It has four (4) onboard programmable outputs and is expandable up to 148. It also has built-in dual-path communicators. Ethernet or WIFI and an LTE Cellular communicator.
The IQ Pro is not your average residential alarm system. Each panel variation is equipped with eight (8) hardwired zones and supports the long-range wireless transmitting capabilities of DSC PowerG wireless sensors. The IQ Pro is expandable and customizable. It can work in a residential environment, but it can be a powerful option for larger installations, also. The IQ Pro is capable of using additional hardwired zones, MX addressable loop zones, and legacy wireless sensors. Because of this expansion capability, it is a great fit for many large homes, businesses, hospitals, and schools. Qolsys also boasts impressive ease of installation with a QR code for quick account setup and an enclosure that can hold multiple expansion boards.
The IQ Pro has many choices. You may opt for either a Verizon, AT&T, or Telus (Canada) LTE cellular communicator. For those who only plan to use the long-range, encrypted sensors, there is the PowerG-only IQ Pro. Or in addition to PowerG, users can also choose either a 345 MHz Honeywell or 2GIG compatible, 319.5 MHz Qolsys or Interlogix/GE compatible, or 433 MHz legacy DSC compatible model. You also have a choice between a metal or a plastic enclosure. This version of the IQ Pro comes in a metal enclosure, with an AT&T LTE communicator, and support for both PowerG and DSC 433 MHz sensors.
An important note with regard to the plastic enclosure version of the system is that if the cellular signal strength is low enough that it requires an external antenna, then the use of the plastic enclosure is not possible. The external antenna is only compatible with a metal enclosure version of the Qolsys IQ Pro. Also, there is no option to just swap out the enclosures. So, there is no solution to convert a Plastic enclosure IQ Pro to a metal enclosure if it is determined that an external antenna is needed.
The IQ Pro offers so many desirable features in an alarm system. Add touchscreen IQ remotes and/or push button keypads, such as the HS2ICN or the HS2LCDP. The panel sports a powerful Qualcomm SnapDragon 8 Core SOM (System On a Module) processor with 16 GB of NAND Flash memory to back it up. Using the IQ Remote allows the IQ Pro to have the feel of an All-In-One system. This provides an attractive, easy-to-use interface, allowing you to locally control compatible automation devices that you decide to add or to view compatible Alarm.com Alarm.com cameras and supported doorbell cameras directly on the IQ Remote screen.
The IQ Pro offers IP options to connect using either WIFI or Ethernet, in addition to its LTE cellular path. As with all Alarm.com communicators, signals will be sent on both, the IP and LTE Cellular paths, at the same time for each signal. All communication will be through Alarm.com for monitoring. The IQ Pro also receives its interactive services through the alarm.com customer website or the alarm.com app. The Alarm.com mobile app is available on iOS and Android app stores.
You can add to the eight (8) onboard hardwired zones with an HSM2108 hardwired zone expander. Each HSM2108 adds up to eight (8) additional hardwired zones. New to the IQ PRO is support for the MX addressable loop devices. Some older DSC PowerSeries panels used addressable loops, but those devices are not compatible with the IQ Pro. The IQ Pro uses the HSM3105 module for addressable loop expansion of up to 124 MX zones. Remember, regardless of which expansion route you take, the IQ Pro will support a maximum of 128 zones.
If you are installing the system in a large space and multiple expansion modules are needed, power could become a concern. That's where the HSM2300 and the HSM2204 can help. The HSM2300 is a power supply module that provides an additional 1A of current. The HSM2204 is a power supply and PGM module combined. It can provide an additional 1A of current and four (4) high-current programmable outputs.
The IQ Pro will require a backup battery which must be purchased separately. It can handle a 4 Ah, 7 Ah, 14 Ah (2 x 7 Ah), or a 17 Ah battery. You would choose the battery or batteries, that will provide the preferred standby time in the event you were to lose power. For details please refer to the battery charts in the IQ Pro reference manual on pages 44-45.
Each Qolsys IQ Pro has a unique QR code that can be scanned to quickly begin configuring the system. The IQ Pro Installer App is available from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. This app is used to configure every aspect of the IQ Pro system, from zone programming to Z-Wave automation devices.
